New court document reveals details in Mike Ribeiro sexual assault case
Quote:
Ribeiro is accused of sexually assaulting his former nanny, whose name has been withheld from the public as of this time. The Predators blog On the Forecheck has obtained documents filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court that go into vivid detail about the accusations.
The case was first filed in 2014. Ribeiro is accused of numerous unwanted sexual advances on the nanny between 2007, when she was 12, and 2012, when she was 18. The most serious assault is alleged to have happened in 2012, when the nanny was staying with Ribeiro’s family for two weeks helping them prepare for a move to Virginia after he’d signed with the Washington Capitals.

In 2014, after one year in Phoenix, Ribeiro was bought out of a four-year, $22 million that he originally signed with the team as free agent in 2013. It was initially reported as "behavioral issues related to alcohol use" as the reason for the buyout. The case was also filed in 2014, so it might appear to some that this lead to the buyout from Phoenix. Pure speculation on my part however.
Also, there is a link within that link that provide more details, but they are also more graphic and may be upsetting to read.

Even if he didn't do this, Ribeiro is still scum.

Read the graphic accounts. Nothing really "violent", but man, just disgusting.

If true this guy should be rotting in a jail cell. I am so glad he never came to the Flames in the trade he turned down.

I'm always leery in cases where the cops don't charge anyone and the wife doesn't leave. Not say she's lying and looking for $$ but it has happened a lot to wealthy people.
And yes. Ribeiro is scum.

Just like our old friend #39 here in town, who then married an 18 year-old usherette after retirement, but he was a "great guy" according to Don Cherry...

The trade wasn't for Ribeiro to be a member of the team.

I agree with this. The cops investigated and didn't lay charges correct?
You always wonder how much is true.

I heard about this months ago when it came out but didn't realize the first alleged incident was when the nanny was 12. Any age would be bad (even the later alleged incidents), but 12? If the alleged incident is proven to be true, that is sick.

Hell, that wasn't even Dougie's first run in with an underaged girl.
NYTime article archived from 1988.
http://www.nytimes.com/1988/12/28/sp...ndictment.html
Quote:
A St. Louis County grand jury decided yesterday not to indict a former St. Louis Blues player, Doug Gilmour, on charges related to sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl. Gilmour, who now plays for the Calgary Flames, testified for about two hours yesterday. His attorney, Gordon Ankney, said his client maintained his innocence in his second appearance before the grand jury. Gilmour, 25 years old, was traded from the Blues to the Flames in a seven-player deal Sept. 6, shortly after a $1 million civil suit was filed against him and his wife, Robyne, by the parents of the girl, who had been baby-sitting for the Gilmours. The accusation against Gilmour was not reported to authorities. He still faces charges filed in the civil suit.(

I thought it was rumoured that he said no to a trade here before he was bought out last year. I could be wrong.

Totally true, but the flames would have done a compliance buyout on him to get the coyotes 1st rounder.
Just another reason why he was scum, he stuck it to the coyotes by refusing a trade and made them buy him out.

The court documents suggest this was a pattern:
She also knew that Mike had sexually and/or physically assaulted at least five other females prior to his assault of (redacted). Tamara was so aware of the threat of sexual and physical assault that Mike posed to (redacted) that she agreed that (redacted) should never be alone with Mike.

Odd how a guy that looks like a rat faced scumbag actually is one. Jeese... sexually assaulting a nanny? With millions of dollars ladies would be lining up but he goes and assaults an under age girl, what an idiot.

Violence can mean a lot of things, but to me a grown man using physical force to restrain, intimidate and penetrate a teenage girl counts as violence.
I withhold judgment until the courts do their thing, but if this is true, then he needs to go to jail.

As I understand one of the articles, the specifics of the claims were not put in the public court documents at first. Ribeiro's lawyers demanded complete detail. So the nanny's lawyers filed details, now its being talked about all over.
That's quite the strategy to pursue when representing a sort-of celebrity. They must have thought it through though.

Pretty messed up if true but wouldn't be the first or last false accusation. I'll have to take the wait and see approach.

His contract wasn't eligible for a compliance buyout because it was signed after the lockout, and we don't know for sure that the Flames plan was to buy him out.
It really doesn't make any sense for him to reject the trade if he knew the Flames' plan was to buy him out, other than to be a dick to the Coyotes (which, with him, is a distinct possibility).
