If its the end, thanks for the memories. This qualifying cycle has been so much fun and reaching Qatar was awesome.
Wouldn't even blame him if he just got fed up with the CSA's baloney.

If true, this means all 3 2026 Co hosts have vacancies. Who gets the big name?

Yeah this seems like posturing by him to get a new contract, would be surprised to see him leave after he had a pretty bad World Cup, can't see him leaving before a chance at redemption with a golden generation.
If he does go, Ancelotti has the Canadian connections and would be a far superior manager.

I would love to see Ancelotti and Bontis have an animated Italian-man argument about the direction of the team.

Ancelotti, imho, is a top 5 Manager ever. I’d be ecstatic if he led Canada. But would CSF pay…

Most importantly, hopefully whatever is happening in John's personal live works out ok for everyone
Secondly, sounds like this had real legs and wasn't just posturing. Guess we'll see what happens
If it is the end then thanks for everything. 2021 and 2022 were the most fun years for football in this country in my lifetime. No one has done more for soccer than John Herdman in Canada

Why does everyone keep bringing up Ancelotti? What's his connection to Canada?
Also, Herdman going to NZ - that would be a fun gig. Would be a dream to live there full-time and coach high level soccer. Would be an interesting chapter in one's career, IMO. Wonder if Myer Bevan gets a closer look again for the All Whites.

He's got a soft spot for Canada, where his wife is from, and something of a home as he's lived in Vancouver in-between his many shifts across Europe's top flights.
Now? He's looking at John Herdman's role with a keen eye, too.
“Yes, there would be a national team (I'd be interested in managing), but now it’s premature," Ancelotti told Amazon Prime, as quoted by the Daily Record.
"Certainly not for this World Cup. World Cup 2026, why not? Could be. Canada? I’d love to, sure. Canada did very well."
Ancelotti added: "After Real, yes, I’ll probably stop,

I was under the impression his contract was done post WC, and needed a new one for going forward.
The CSA would've been shouting from the rooftops if they signed him to an extension at any point. That announcement never happened, only today a clumsy confirmation from the CSA after Herdman sent out his statement...so you have to wonder if he orchestrated this with some pals in the New Zealand federation, to speed along those at the indecisive, glacial moving CSA in the last few days.
However it's happened, good for Herdman. 100% of the credit for turning that group of players, in spite of a spineless and slimy national association, into a WC qualifier by doing things his way.

Though it's debatable if he gets the call for national duty any more, Cavallini signs with Tijuana. Tijuana is a bottom feeder in LeagueMx over the past few years.

Too bad Cavallini doesn't want to play in the CPL. Could be a huge fish in a small pond. Could probably even stay in BC with PFC or VFC too.

Larin came off the bench and scored the winner for Valladolid for a second straight week. Think a permanent move in the summer is upcoming.

Jayden Nelson has transferred to Rosenborg in Norway. Step down in level of play, but he was never going to play at TFC this year.
IMO this is a great move for him purely as it will get him a chance to play. Sam Adekugbe was in a similar situation a few years ago and his career took off after moving from Whitecaps to Norway.
