Default Summer 2015 Prospect Ranking - Round 14

it's time.

Calgarypuck's 3rd annual Prospect Ranking Poll!

Going with the 25 and under with 65 or less games played at the NHL level which actually works pretty closely with my own rule of thumb of "anyone not too old that hasn't been penciled in".

Therefore Granlund, Ortio and Ferland are still prospects.

Monahan and Gaudreau are young but clearly established and no longer prospects. Bennett may be penciled in but he's only played 12 NHL games and is a prospect.

It looks like Morrison will be underrated again and will fall to 15th. He's probably the best young D-man in the organization, so expect him to rise substantially or be off this list entirely by this time next year. It makes sense though because almost nobody has watched him play.

It's probably safe to drop Wolf off the list now.

I don't know if it is a case of people underating him. There are strong cases to be made for a lot of these guys. Close calls. So just because someone votes for someone else doesn't mean they don't value Morrison

Still voting Smith, he improved alot this season and could develop into a great complimentary player like a more physical Colborne.

I think I've flip flopped about 10 times now between Morrison and Arnold. I end d up with Arnold this time. I think he is a middle to bottom 6 guy and I think Morrison is a 3-4-5 Dman. Just dunno to be honest it's so close

What makes Morrison the best young defenseman in the organization? I watch a tonne of NCAA hockey, and Morrison did not impress me any more than some of our other defensemen. I would easily put him behind Wotherspoon, Hickey, Gilmour and Culkin. I don't know how you could possibly say he is the best in the organization, especially if you've watched them all.

Yup, Flames can still sign them until December 1st to play this season.

Both will be UFA after this season.

Culkin yet again. His case has been made several times now.

Best in terms of being NHL ready. Watching him last week, and at the tail end of last season in Addy, he stood out as being more composed than anyone else at both ends of the rink.

In terms of upside, Hickey, Kylington and Andersson have more potential with Hickey being the best of the bunch by far. I really would not be shocked if he was TJ Brodie 2.0. The other two are at least 2 years away, so it's hard to tell exactly what strides they will make in their development between now and then.

Morrison though looks like an NHL defender as it sits right now. I like his two way game over Wotherspoon.

Gilmour, Culkin and Kulak are all behind him but that's due to the fact that they are all slightly younger. The latter two could be equivalent talents once they reach 23 or possibly better. No way to tell until we get there though.

The way I worded it did not come off as I was intending. I wasn't meaning it as a complaint, but rather being bullish on how good I think Morrison will be and that he might shock some people this year.

Went with the Smith, brings an element few prospects or any roster player could potentially bring.

Not married to any one vote at this point. I'm a playing fast and loose with the rules here, ladies.
