Back to when there was a semi-serious Iggy conversation, I think the room/chemistry problems are likely minimal, but it is fair to speculate on that issue, as it is a pretty rare case of former captain and first ballot hall of famer to return to a team looking to be a contender.
My speculation is that the current leadership would welcome him with open arms, if they think he can actually improve the team. I am not so certain he will, given the speed of the game and GG's system. He needs to play this system, not Daryl's.
I just don't see the fit. Not a first liner anymore, and it seems ridiculous that we would bring him back for "toughness". Likely more of a mentor/powerplay specialist like Versteeg. We already have Versteeg.
You realize Iggy was still fighting as recently as the end of last season, right?
You can lose your legs and your stamina. You don't lose your hockey IQ or your toughness.

agreed...
you are probably thinking about Emelin's hit on Colbourne at the end of a 10-1 blowout...
Quote:
“At that point of the game when they’re beating us like that, it’s not really a matter of whether it’s clean or not,” Iginla said. “Just don’t think (it’s right). If I’m going up-over like that with two minutes left and down 10-1 I’d hope guys are coming in (for me). That’s the way I’ve played and I think that’s the way it should be played.
yes iggy has fallen victim to father time like all of have/will... but you gotta respect that guy.

Sure, but that still is a terrible reason to bring him back.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Crappy article that says the Flames shouldn't sign Iggy. Too old, Flames are not a cup contender, and they should give a spot to a kid instead of Iggy.
Personally I still think there is a shot that Jankowski makes the team even if Iggy is brought in. I also feel the Flames are a cup contender with the back end they established. A lot will depend on how the young forwards play as well as Mike Smith. Lastly I think Oggy provides value in terms of the power play and toughness.

Oggy? - Is that what you get when you combine old and Iggy?
Other than the piling on that he hasn't won a cup, I agree with the article.

They said the same thing about Lanny McDonald playing for another year. Many thought Brett Hull should have had his position.
