$13 a month (with unblock-us) provides me with more entertainment that I could ever hope to consume.
When you think about it, it's absolutely incredible that this kind of deal and service is available to us at such a cost.

What's the point of unblock-us? I just watch Netflix on my iPad, and I just changed the DNS and it worked no problem. Is unblock-us necessary for other mediums?

Because you can't always count on another DNS server being there and working. I used to do that with my Bluray all the time and it would work one day and then not the next. So I had to try and track down another working DNS. With unblock us, it just works and isn't a hassle. Worth the $5 a month IMO.

For computers, hola.org has been the easiest for NF.
For manual DNS, I like to use tunlr 's information.
For PS3s, running over Telus internet provider, US netlfix is blocked. This was annoying to find out since the last major update (March or so). The rest of my house works fine, and on the PS3 my Hulu Plus account works, just no for netflix

If you have children Netflix is worth $50 a month.

And if you don't have children, you should have some because Netflix is such a good deal!

Is it reliable? I always found using other DNS servers, it was hit or miss for Netflix to load or require about 5 or 6 tries.
I tried just about every DNS server I could find when I reset my bluray in order for it to believe I was in the States so it would download the US apps like Pandora instead of the crappy content Canadians get. Nothing worked for this other than unblock us.

I've changed the DNS settings on my BluRay, and try it every few weeks. I can get the US catalogue to show up, but only the Canadian content will play, an error comes up for any US content.

Both of these are another bonus of unblock-us, my PS3 wouldn't work with any DNS I found after that update until I started using unblock-us, now it works every time.

Within Netflix? Huh, no problems on my Bluray. I've been watching Supernatural episodes again. They aren't available on the Canadian version of Netflix.
I use unblock us though.

I've had Netflix for a full year now and used Tunlr the entire time. Problem free, life is grand.
I have no quams about paying $5/mth to keep Netflix USA available and will gladly switch the minute that Tunlr fails to deliver. Just doubt that's gonna happen anytime soon.

Heck no. Pretty much any internet connected device works at this point. The key is selecting one that allows for manually entering DNS. A lot of TVs have Netflix built right in (Samsung for sure) although I'm not certain about DNS accessibility.
I have my PC connected to the TV (just HDMI, nothing fancy/difficult) and use it as a media center. I even used the HDMI out on my phone once just to see if it works (it did).

I've got a Samsung TV and I was able to change the DNS settings for Netflix. So ya you can get US Netflix off a smart TV.

So I watched Mike Birbiglia's new special "My Girlfirend's Boyfriend" the other day and thought "I wonder what other standup specials will be recommended for me". So good old Netflix Canada reccomended these for me:

potential game changer; my bud tipped me off to this site, https://adfreetime.com/. It's a DNS router, like un-blockus, but it's $2 a month and you can change the regions (us, canada, uk, brazil...) easily, also blocks ads and if you change the settings on your router you can use it on all your devices. just set up the 7 day free trial, so far so good.

I found a nice extension for Chrome, Media Hint ( https://mediahint.com/). It somehow makes it look like you're in the US so you get US Netflix, hulu, etc and it's free!

Those of you using a DNS service that doesn't give you access to NetFlix UK are missing out.
Also, 99% of non-paid DNS swaps give #### bandwidth. Paying for a service just guarantees I can watch everything in SuperHD, so for that alone its worth it.
