Why aren’t they releasing the names? Sorry but they don’t deserve to be protected at this stage.

Taking a while to get to 5000

It seems to be lining up.
I'll withhold comment until its official, but plenty of disappointment to go around

It would be helpful for hockey fans to know who was involved so that we can move forward. But I imagine our needs don't weigh highly in the equation! I suspect at this point it is a matter of days (or hours) until we know who the suspects are.

We can make a very plausible guess at 4 of the names at this point.

The names will be released when they are charged.

Had an idea!

About time this gets dealt with, but sure makes you wonder if Rick Westhead wouldn't have been like a dog on a bone on this issue, would the NHL & Hockey Canada even care?

Not charged yet. I assume will be named when they are charged. Although with London police I don't know - they just had a murder/suicide here and didn't release the names or confirm what happened in public.

Still comes down the liabilities and speaking out of turn on a current legal matter… this isn’t out of the norm. No one is being “protected”. People are protecting themselves from unnecessarily legal recourse.
It’s coming, we’ll know soon.

Fair enough. Next question .. why are they being permitted to come in themselves to be charged , instead of flat out being arrested?

5 players have been asked to surrender to London police… In unrelated news, Ken Holland just added 5 players to his depth chart.

Within days of 2 of the players from the team going on indefinite leaves of absences. Sure, could be a coincidence, but I don't like where this is going.

Like, instead of arranging 5 raids in different countries/cities…? This is the easy cheaper route.

Could be due to the locations of the accused. I doubt any are in the London are. Easier for police to ask than to start the foreign arrest and extradition process.

London police look like absolute trash in all of this. They initially closed their investigation in February 2019. Opened it back up in 2022. Embarrassing when the NHL and bad publicity forces you to do your job properly ( with the assistance of other investigators who are more competent than you) 5 years after the fact. Heads should roll but you know they won't.

Most arrests for non violent crimes are people surrendering to police - especially if not charged immediately / years later
Tv / live arrests are mostly in movies or when the police want the press on the case
