Interesting 3rd line. Wouldn't it be interesting if Czarnik clicks with Janko and Bennett and scores a hat trick and the Flames don't have anywhere they can put Neal because every other RW has beaten him out of a job?

  3. Johnny Gaudreau is three assists from tying Hakan Loob and becoming 15th all time in assists as a Flame. Three is a lot, but with the way Gaudreau has been playing it could happen in one night.
  4. Mark Giordano is one point from tying Hooley Smith and becoming 93rd all time in points as an NHL defenceman. Who is Hooley Smith? He played from 1924 until 1941, amassing 426 points in 717. After Gio passes him only 7 players who played fewer games than Gio have gotten more points.
  5. Mikael Backlund is one point from tying Willi Plett and becoming 22 in points as a Flame.
  6. Mark Giordano is one goal from tying Sylvain Cote become 63rd all time in goals as an NHL D-man.
  7. David Rittich will pass Brian Elliott in games played as a Flame with 50 games after tonight. Rittich is also one win from passing Elliott as well.
Not Hooley!

He will still go back into the lineup. The Flames pay Neal a lot of money, they will give him every chance to find his game.

Take that back!

Seriously though - we're first in the Pacific, and have been there for awhile and it seems like we have to win every night just to stay there with Vegas and San Jose breathing down our necks - crazy, we just can't get some separation with the streak we're on. The good thing is there is a huge gap between third and the forth (or the wildcard spots for that matter). The Jets did us a favor last night- now lets win and take advantage of that at least.

An indication of how this season is going: the Flames are currently on a five-game winning streak, and that's barely a topic of discussion.

Welcome!

Calgary Puck is a much different place than it was a thousand years ago. So much focus back then on iconoclasm, and how Viking invasions might affect NHL hockey.

Sports Select Info
Sabres Win = 3.6
Tie = 3.9
Flames Win = 1.55
Over 6.5 = 1.7
Under 6.5 = 1.7

I've got the Flames winning 4-1. Goals from Monahan (PP), Tkachuk, Backlund, and Lindholm. Reinhart can have one against his old man's team.

BUF a good team with good players who are looking to bounce back after loss. Big challenge for CGY.

Hoping to see them play hard and play fast. When CGY are relentless and buzzing they are at their best. Let's see what performance CGY put out tonight.

Go Flames Go!

if they can get at least 6 of the available 8 points before the break that would be fantastic.

If both teams bring their A game, 6-2 Flames
If Flames bring their B game and Sabres their A game, 4-3 Flames
If Sabres bring their B game and Flames their A game, 9-0 Flames

So me think 3-2 Flames in OT!

The Oilers beg to differ... They have an inexhaustible supply of interchangeable #7 defensemen, due to astute waiver wire pickups and trading their 5th leading scorer. By the end of the season, they expect to have cornered the market, and everyone can come on bended knee in the off-season for roster fill-ins.

Maybe I’ll see some of you around the Dome tonight, my yearly game to get to!

Good luck to both teams, I hope for a clean game — and a Sabres win, we need to points more than you dramatic division leaders!

I don't watch the Sabres much. Can you offer some insight on why things have been such a struggle lately after the hot start they had?

Sorry, but last year I had to watch Brouwer take (and lose) three faceoffs in a row in overtime, with Eichel burying the GWG.

6-1 Flames. GFG!

It’s been a wacky season — I think coaching has a lot to do with it, Housley doesn’t seem to be a great motivator and makes some head scratching decisions. I compared him to the Flames with Gulutzan in another thread. Their ten game winning streak was fun and awesome but there was an extraordinary amount of luck involved — I think they had 3 OT wins and 4 shootout wins in that streak. The pucks have just been bouncing the other way.

Plus the secondary scoring dried up, the top line cooled off a little bit, and Hutton has been pretty ‘meh’ the last 20 games after starting well.

They aren’t as good as the team that won 10 in a row, but they aren’t as bad as the team that’s gone 6-12 in the last bunch of games and got blown out by the Oilers. There’s a playoff team in there, I just don’t think Housley is the coach to get them there.

Neal (illness) out tonight. Hamonic (family illness) will miss his second straight game. #Flames
Wait a team keeping a player out because he's sick hogwash everybody knows you keep playing them 20 plus minutes a night until they are fully recovered

If Neal has the flu I hope they keep him as far away from the team as possible.
