If that doesn't scream Jack Adam's nomination then I don't know what does. Of course he has to keep this Flames team rolling through the 2nd half..

I thought it was a guarantee that Peters would be coach as it wasn't a nomination but just where standings were at??
Couldn't be happier with this entire season. I am usually slow to judge a player or coach signing and this approach usually allows someone to be right but I fully admit telling friends I didn't think Peters was the guy and he has done nothing but make me look silly all year.

This has fallen far too low.
The Flames and the 50 plus point guys, 4 of them have been here for 2 previous coaches. Peters has come in and energized players, got proper structure, but more than anything, had the full respect of the players that his methodology works so he had full player buy in.
Same goes for his assistants.
It took a stick throw from GG, but never did the players really have confidence him as a coach, even in the playoff year.
Bill Peters should be coach of the year and it shouldn't be close.

Not gonna lie. His coaching performance this season is rivalling Darryl Sutter's work in 2004 and that's high praise. He seems to push all the right buttons. It's been great to watch as a fan. We know Gulutzan wasn't very good but this guy has come in and made this team believe they are as good or better than the hype.

I really Peters, I mean how can you not.
I think Trotz might still be the front-runner for the Jack Adams, but Peters is way ahead of whoever is in 3rd.

Flames didn't lose a Tavares, but they have a better points percentage increase than the Islanders, 0.178 vs. 0.150.

Pretty amazing.
i think most fans were unsure about Peters, but would support him... i don't think even BT would have thought he would have the team 2nd over 3 weeks into January ...
He's better than Babcock!

The attacking short handed play is brilliant in this era of teams playing 4 forwards and 1 d on the power play constantly. Clearly a strategy as you can see players carrying the puck whenever they have ice instead of dumping it.

I wonder if he reminded them that NHL windows are brief and you don't get that many chances to make a run. They seem to have been playing with a lot more urgency this season. Gio talking about how badly he wants to play in the playoffs would connect with that too

Coaching awards in all sports always seem to go to the coach whose team showed the most improvement. Is this what we mean by best coach? Bill Belichick has won best coach three times (AP), but isn't he really the best coach every year?

Probably a part of it, yeah.
Peters speaks about the TEAM a ton. He says this in every pre/postgame presser.
Getting Brodie back with Giordano was done from preseason game 1 in China. This was the most obvious and stupid things that wasn't tried or changed last year.
Also, the D to D passes were reduced and defencemen were allowed to activate into the play again.
It's a combination of deployment, strategy, and the players believing in the system. I love how the Flames don't dwell on single mistakes anymore. Peters has answers for why things didn't go well and addresses them.
You can spot the Babcock disciple a mile away vs. the Willie Desjardins clone.

We've tied our home wins already compared to last year.
Finally the dome is becoming a tough place to play at again.
