Default Racing Chairs and Wheels for GT5

Hi Guys,

Figured I'd start a thread specific to deals/recommendations on chairs and wheels for the upcoming release of GT5.

I'd like to get a Playseat and a Logitech G27 wheel:

How much would a set-up like that run you?

$400-500 for the playseat and $350 for the wheel... Trying to find a better option for the seat.

The Fanatec wheels that a few of us here have are great if you want an alternative to the G27. Having used both the wheel and pedals are clearly superior (only if you get the clubsport edition pedals and not the standard), shifter is not as good tho as its a bit clunkier and not leather wrapped. Might want to hurry though, supply is close to running out with only the GT3 wheel still available.

Playseats do go on sale from time to time on amazon but with GT5 coming out I don't see prices dropping any time soon

I ordered the Fanatec Rennsport seat....seems like a nice compromise between having a solid and stable structure for your wheel/pedals, and something that folds away so it doesn't have to take up too much space.

And apparently girls don't seem to mind having it around.

I suggest you guys invest in a good ottoman instead... It's functional all year round and the gf/wife can not complain most of the time.

Probably British, Aussie, Japanese or from some other country where the driver sits on the right.

Damn, that's pretty hardcore. It would probably flip you over too if you rolled the car.

Marion Gaborik has something like that, it is more of a chair though but it has all the responsiveness. That is why he is always "injured", just sits at home and races.

Just curious. Anyone with a 3D TV setup going to get GT5? I'd love to see how this game looks in 3D. I hope FS or BB does some sort of setup instore with GT5 and 3D. Does anyone know if The Sony Store has a PS3 setup with a 3D TV? They might be the most likely place to have a demo setup.

That thing is nuts... I wonder how much a setup like that would cost... probably way out of my price range

Yeah, if you're going to be all hardcore about the wheel and stuff, you really should go 3D as well.

I'd offer to let anyone with a PS3 and GT5 come over and see how it looks on my TV, but I don't think I'd be able to get it to work because my understanding is that the PS3 only enables 3D for the new TVs. So even though I can watch the 3D broadcasts on Shaw (through my computer), I don't think it'll work with the PS3. If anyone wants to try anyways, send me a PM.

I've been looking for a good cockpit that was not too expensive. Does anyone actually have one?

There is the playseat, but I think I like the look of the Obutto cockpit better. http://www.obutto.com/simracing.html
Plus, it is available to Canada at a price of $359 Canadian from a reseller called GetGadget.

The Fanatec cockpit looks awesome, but its over $1000!!!

I dont know if you can even order the Playseat from anywhere in Canada...

Fanatec rennsport cockpit is awesome looking. But once you run that through and get the three monitors, surround sound system you've bankrupted yourself already. =(

Better to goto the junk yard and hope there is a real seat from a nice car shows up.
