Default APS (Advantix) Film Scanning

I have a number of APS films in my basement, that I'd like to get scanned digitally so I can access the pictures (obviously).

When I was in junior high I went on a class trip and the 35mm film in my camera didn't load properly and I lost all the pictures. It was frustrating, and ended up buying a Kodak Advantix camera, which takes the APS film that you cannot load improperly, and also took panoramic pictures.

I purchased one of the storage books for the film canisters, and have held onto it because, why wouldn't I?

I've recently started going through old photos, and there are a number that I think would be fun to explore/relive.

Anyone know of a scanner, or a cheap/easy way to get the APS negatives scanned?

You can buy a smart phone scanner from Kodak or Lomography. Kodak available here:
https://www.amazon.ca/KODAK-Mobile-F...1181460&sr=8-3

The Lomography link gives you the 'how-to'.

If you have a DSLR, you can use it as the scanner and take a photo of the negative.

With the DSLR method you will have to fiddle in Photoshop or equivalent to turn the negative into a positive. I assume the scanners do that conversion but you will still have to fiddle in Photoshop most likely.

I've used the DSLR method for scanning positives and it worked fine. I haven't done it for negatives, though. It's a lot of work, though, depending on how much you need to scan.

Now I just suck it up and mail my film to The Darkroom. They do a fantastic job.

They are in California, though, so maybe try Old School Photo Lab in New Hampshire.

Holy crow, $0.59/photo SCANNED? Not a physical copy but to scan it?

That seems excessive.

Was hoping to find something that would be more reasonable, or a cheap scanner/attachment that would do the trick.

I feel like they made those... didn't they?
