Six years.

Obviously the rumors flying around, but you have to think it is playing weight related.

Who knows, and/or maybe he also quietly asked for a change of scenery to reignite some passion and play out his remaining years, and it didn't happen over the summer.

Byfuglien is big into fishing/ice fishing.

I'd be hard pressed to think of a better NHL city to be in than Winnipeg for Buff.

I could see the grind of trying to get back in shape every fall starting to get to him.

I can think of several. Lots of cities have great fishing spots nearby, without the downside of being Winnipeg.

Draisaitl is signed to a steal of a contract and is much better and proven than Laine.

Edmonton wouldn't do it even if Winnipeg added its first.

I'm not sure we need to jump to any conclusions, but given what Blake Wheeler said about how last year went it certainly sounds like the leadership put a lot on themselves last year. Could be that it took the fun out of it and burned Big Buff out.

I’ll have one of what you are having!
He also played with McDavid who gets PTOs 20+ goals

Big bodies who play like he does also take a lot of punishment, that wears you down after a while.

Sounds to me like he wants out of Winnipeg. The don't want to do training camp doesn't hold water to me if he intends to play this year, he would be in camp.

Showing up in WPG and hitting a patio, during camp, is a pretty bizarre way to behave after asking for a leave. That is one giant #### you to the team.

Either retire or show up. Maybe someone needs to throw HIS clothes in the shower.

I'm just going to plant myself here with this big bag of popcorn for a while. This is about to get interesting.

if you read the tweet carefully (it is very poorly worded), the guy that posted it is in Montreal, not the picture. Also, it says he is at the St Vital Earls

Yes.......it was in Winnipeg, Maurice mentioned yesterday he had a nice long conversation with Buff the day previous.

I still think he is going to retire....he already admitted his love for the game just isnt where it was/needs to be, and i dont think that comes back after a couple weeks of reflection coming off of 3 months of it just before.

I agree, I think he’s going to retire. Sitting at a pub having a brewski in the middle of the day doesn’t scream, “I’ll be ready to go for the season opener.”.
