Rick Moranis returns to acting
https://twitter.com/user/status/1227831764413972481
Glad to see it, a genuinely talented comedian actor and one of my favorite second city alumni.
Moranis left acting after the death of his wife to cancer to become a full time dad. In that time he released a couple of really good comedy country music albums.
He's signed up to reprise his role from the I shrunk the kids series.

It would be better than any of the recent Star Wars crap Disney has released.

Funny enough over Christmas I watched Spaceballs with my kids for the first time (10 and 7), they both loved it.

Never thought I’d use up almost all of my daily likes in a Rick Moranis thread. Well done CP, well done.

It's too bad he passed on being in the new Ghostbusters movie, but this is good too. Guy was in a lot of childhood movies that I fondly remember.

I always wondered what happened to him. Great that he's making a comeback.

Lucky kids to have a parent sacrificing his career for them.
I suspect he is a fun Dad.

Other than endangering their lives by making them the size of fleas.

Someone at work told me a joke recently: it's been so long since Spaceballs came out they should call the sequel Spaceballs 3: The Search for Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money .

Including the Spaceballs Flamethrower? I just want to ensure the advertising was truthful.

I just re-watched the first one with my girls a couple weeks ago, its a great family movie. Now, the subsequent sequels not so much.... so maybe they'll recapture the magic of the first.

I know he turned down an offer for a cameo in the all girls reboot of ghostbusters.
I can only imagine the offers he's had over the years.
I'm interested to hear why he decided now is the time. just the right circumstances, I guess. maybe he now has grandkids he wants to do something for.

I’ve read the supposed plot for the movie mirrors some of his personal circumstances. Could just be that, the script resonated with him on an emotional level so he figured why not.
