I didn't even know the Squid was still playing. Surprised to hear his name.

Why in blue hell would LA do this?

Cammy, you're dead to me.

This is the very first time in as long as I can remember that it appears Edmonton won a trade on the day it was announced. I can't even think of a trade Edmonton won, at all, before this one.

Oilers will find a way to lose this trade. I'm not sure how, but there's a reason Chia was nominated for GM of the year...

Strange trade from the Kings point of view but I can only assume the didn't see Cammalleri as a good fit. He is after all a one dimensional player so if he's not scoring he's not helping your team. I suppose they wanted a body that was better at both ends of the ice. As far as the Oilers go I can see him getting a few points on the powerplay for them but I don't think he's the cure for their issues.

Do you guys remember when Cammy was traded to Calgary and Conroy picking him up and how excited Cammy was to help the flames make the playoffs?

I'm picturing Chia coming to pick Cammy up and the car just deathly quiet and somber.

Always liked Cammy but I hope he does no good in Edmonton. Like this deal way more for the Oil as Cammy is the better of the crappy players

Puzzling move from LA's perspective ~ they were tops in the division and Cammy did seem to be producing but taking a look at the underlying advanced stats #'s and they aren't great.

Cammy
CF% for the year ~ 43.4 ~ 6.1 points down from career avg of 49.5 OZ starts: 45.1

Jokinen
CF% for the year ~ 58.4 ~ 6.7 points up from career avg of 51.7 OZ starts: 51.1

No doubt points wise this is an upgrade for E=NG but from a corsi perspective they just got a smaller winger who doesn't drive offensive opportunities he camps for his chances and depends on others to do the heavy lifting.

Cammalleri had 4 of his 7 points in one game mostly on the pp. He's useless 5 on 5 and as inconsistent as they come.

Before anyone says something stupid ~ no I wouldn't have traded Brouwer for Cammy straight up ~ even with 2.8 years left on his contract :P

Yikes. It's 19 degrees in LA right now and -11 in Edmonton.

I think coaches like Jokinen for his hockey sense:

Quote:
"He's maybe one of the smartest players I've ever coached," Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said of Jokinen. "He has a knack for being at the right spot at the right time and he's been all over that
http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/ar...ference-finals

Quote:
“I will never be able to convey how smart he is as a player,” Bylsma said. “He’s probably one of the smartest players I’ve played with — not only from a hockey standpoint, but from a systematic standpoint. He understands the game. He’s got high intelligence…hockey IQ if you want to go down that road…hockey sense. He’s in the right spot at the right time.”

Bylsma even said that Jokinen’s hockey smarts and skillset inspired a powerplay setup that’s been adopted by many teams across the NHL.

“There’s a powerplay breakout in the league,” he explained. “It’s named something else, but it’s because of Jussi Jokinen. It’s standard issue for a lot of teams and it’s because of his smarts and his intelligence.”

This last link really goes into detail about Jokinen's perceived value by Bylsma
