Default Any pool halls in YYC?

Are there still any pool halls in Calgary? I grew up playing pool. I must’ve spent 100s of hours in the 80s playing 8 ball, 9 ball, snooker in various places in the city, most especially at that strip mall in Fairview that also had the 5 pin bowling alley (I lived a block away from it) I now live outside the city and rarely venture in but was wondering if any pool halls are still operating?

Hidden Spot has some decent tables in the NE. Good pinball selection, too. Mike’s Family Billiards is on 32nd. Place is filthy. Leather Pocket is on Edmonton Trail, haven’t been there recently.

Hidden Spot is probably the tops in the city now, clean, great tables and nice staff. the only downside is the location, hence it's name I guess.

The best kind of pool hall.

I remember Leather Pocket was kind of rough, maybe a little worse off than Mike’s for the quality of the tables and cue sticks. Haven’t been in Hidden Spot (didn’t it used to be in the South by the French Maid?). Anyway, it’s right by Noodle King now so, that’s a perk.

Whatever though, pool halls need to figure out proper table spacing. You shouldn’t have this constant awkward dance with players at an adjacent table.

I haven't lived in Calgary for decades ... but is The Garage still around in Eau Claire?

More than a couple of decades removed from my time in Calgary. Sharky's was always fun. I assume it's long gone. And there was a pool hall in the parking lot of the Back Alley. At least I think it was the Back Alley.

Not a lot of pool halls out in Vancouver anymore. Not many pubs have tables even. The Old Lougheed Village still has a few. Dying art.

Clocks ticking on The Garage though, I think the whole mall is coming down at some point this year.

Chalks Billiards on Bannister Road is the one I was just at recently. Macleod Trail south, take the Bannister Road exit. Can't miss it. Good spot, huge, lots of pool tables and has regulation billiards tables too.

This is right. I was there last week and they said they're moving to Bow Valley some time in Q2 2024.

Eta: garage is moving to Bow Valley. Not the entire Eau Claire.

Chalks is a good one! That was my go-to for a number of years.

I assume you're talking about 12' tables, I thought everyone who played those were dead of old age by now.
