Might be interesting but the "US Sports Leagues" makes me think blackouts for Canadian viewers?

Yeah we won't get that for sure - tv and streaming rights deals are completely different in Canada and the USA and Rogers and Bell who own most of the rights here have been very reluctant to offer their products up to stream in a convenient manner
If anything it's been getting worse rather than better here, at least on the old NHL app you could timeshift a game or start watching it late. The sportsnet app is absolutely brutal, it's pretty clear to me that they are trying to keep people on conventional cable and resist the change that is happening everywhere else in the world.

ESPN+ having almost all the games is nice, but it's still subject to blackouts.
Unless you use a VPN.

One service, all sports, little to no blackouts, now that would be the dream

If anything one of the streaming services that's allowed to operate in Canada (Amazon Prime, Crave, etc) will just offer it as a channel... with an additional $6 CAD/mo markup on top of the $14.99 USD/mo base cost for the channel.
So.. what's Crave now, like $20/mo for the "no ads" version?
$20/mo - Crave
$27/mo - US Sports Channel (14.99 USD = 21 CAD + 6 markup)
So yeah... $47/mo! Just the way Rogers/Bell/Telus want it (because then you might as well just sign up for a 2 year commitment on a TV package at $60/mo!).
Edit: Oh, I guess it would be on Disney, not Crave... but same structure/costs

I already have a D+ subscription (I pay yearly) and they have one hell of a reliable service. (God it feels nasty to give the House of Mouse any credit). I would LOVE to be able to watch all the hockey I could handle on their service

The fact that it looks to also have standard ESPN programming makes this perfect. The only thing I bother borrowing a login for is ESPN, if they make that channel stand alone I am in. Now hopefully it’s not $50 a month or something where it’s cheaper to just have cable

I never watch games "live". I need to be able to record and watch later or start late. That has been keeping me on cable. Plus I have a grandfathered $40/mth telus package with TSN/SN so it covers what I want.

You can subscribe to the D? I can only assume what D+ is.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Its kind of funny how streaming is basically going to become cable, just over the internet.
I guess the upside would be smaller ISPs could start providing bundled streaming services?

I think it's fantastic to see Rhett Warrener and Adam Fox teaming up on a sports streaming venture. Cool to see NHL players taking the lead on this. I am somewhat curious as to how Warrener and Fox know each other, since Adam Fox never played a game or attended a Calgary Flames development camp.

"The full list is ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPNews, Fox, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, Big Ten Network, TNT, TBS and truTV — and the ESPN+ streaming service, and will sell them as a single package."
So in the US, for anyone with ESPN+ and a regular cable package (which is included in a lot of rental condo communities especially), this doesn't really move the needle all that much.
This would however might be a good deal for homeowners etc who have no access to basic cable channels.

The release said it would be its own app. There may be some bundles going on, but it won't just be another channel on Prime. With the Canadian licensing agreements, I doubt you'll be legally permitted to watch any games you care about. You may have to register with a US address and use a VPN.
