His underlying numbers are poor and he’s shooting 19.2%

His offensive production over the last few months is awesome, but Sharangovich is not on any sort of “star” path here, and those type of expectations/hopes are bonkers.

Will be Huska's challenge to get the Backlund line playing the hard assignments and the top line against lesser competition. These days teams don't seem to have those checking lines as much as top lines are expected to play other top lines. If the Flames try that...that trio will get absolutely murdered.

He has tools though. His shot is elite, he has a big frame and handles the puck well. His speed is acceptable and his defensive play has settled down since having a regular line (though that's now going to change as far as centre goes).

Watching 5-6 Canucks games last year, as much as Kuzmenko has a good shot his ability to tip shots is top notch.
Felt like every game I watched he was tipping one in.

This lineup reminds me of the time the Flames tried Tanguay at center because he played some C in junior, and Iggy needed a center. Hopefully Shara does better than Tangs did.

Kuzya on the PP is going to be great. Hopefully the Huberdeau line would be able to play without the puck and be able to get the puck back.

Any word on who takes Lindholm's spot on PK1? Coleman? Mangiapane? Pelletier? Schwindt?

That didn't go well, and he was caught off guard when he was asked about it lol. You could hear in his voice he did not want that.

I actually didn't mind Sharangovich when he was centering the 4th line...

Offensively I don't think there will be any issues as he's pretty good at carrying the puck and driving through the center of the ice.

It's in the defensive zone that we can see if he can commit enough to help...but early on in the year one of the complaints on him was he actually wasn't generating any offense because he was so defensive focused.

He was only at center for about 50 minutes with Duehr and Greer but it was the most effective the 4th line was all season and they had a 62% xGF.

If these lines do not click after a few weeks, I hope Conroy and Huska are willing to give Zary a shot at center. I know Conroy mentioned he sees him more as a winger in the NHL but, considering the rest of this season is for seeing what you have in the system and giving young guys a shot… I would like to see them give him a look at that spot for a few weeks. See if his production still translates as a center and if he can handle the defensive responsibilities.

Stats tell what a player has done in the past and it's a good way to predict the future. But stats can't predict chemistry with a new line or confidence and growth of a player. I think Sharky is on the verge of a breakout still.

I guess we can take a look at this in a few months.
