I bet League views it more as a punch and the cross check on the ground is in the shoulder pad albeit unnecessary.Penalties given are the repercussions of the actions. I don’t understand the uproar on this one.

Nothing play. IMO

It's not a comparison of one act vs another.

It's an example of a borderline hockey play that was jumped all over by the media resulting in a pretty crazy 4-game suspension that was appealed and held... and an example of an arguably more vicious play that has received zero attention and not even a hearing or fine or even an indication that the league even knows it happened.

The major factors for Ras was the time of the game, leaving his feet and main point of contact was the head.

It wasn’t on a big name player so the league doesn’t care. They’ll take notice when Zary leads the league in rookie scoring at the end of the year.

To be clear, the only "repercussion" was a single 2-minute minor for cross-checking on that play.

The roughing penalty was for dropping his gloves against Oesterle (Oesterle also got one too).

My take away is that I like Osterle more for defending Zary like that.

Perron got 6 games, Matthews got 2, I think this should've been in the middle.

It should've been at least 5 and a game during the game, like most crosschecks to the head.

I mean... let's see how the hockey world responds when we do that to McDavid on Sat. If it's a nothing play when it happens to Zary, it should be a nothing play when it happens to McDavid, right?.

Double life sentence in San Quentin Prison no chance of parole.

Or death sentence.

Crosscheck to the face and further crosscheck to a player lying on the ice.

Now that we know that is only a two minute penalty, it should be gameplanned early into the Battle of Alberta, televised nationally on Saturday as Hockey Day in Canada, against McDavid by one of the Flames third pairing defensemen.

The league is telling you what you can and cannot do.

They should get out a dummy in practice and execute it move for move.

We can stomach two for that if only to send a message to McPlywood. A nice pound of flesh to just get a minor for.

It's a little-known fact that referees take an under-the-table bounty reward from Gary Bettman himself, for every time the Flames are penalized.

Time of game is irrelevant.

Exactly what I was going to post. Cross checked a prone player on the ice and got a deserved suspension.
