It was one of the reasons I got a NEXUS card.

Literally the only thing that the sleeve the card is in when it is given to you says Trusted Traveler in English, French, and Spanish.

So Nexus users don't have any separated line for security? If not whats the point of Nexus (here)?

Interesting. Frontier sure has changed a lot since 2006.

In the international terminal you skip to the front of the line, there just isn't any separate clearance so you have to go through the same rigorous check anyone else goes through. Does save you at least some time though if there's a queue.

Better than nothing I guess. That would save time if the lineup was big during peak periods

I flew with them a few times before they pulled out of Calgary and they were OK to fly with. Very friendly and cheap. Hopefully they are the same now.

There's been multiple times where families or leisure/noob travelers would just funnel in in front of the "priority" lane without CATSA doing anything. I'm not one to confront other passengers or turn into a bull in a chinashop kind of guy, so I had to give the odd CATSA guy a WTF look and raised arm for him to corral them back into their line and let me pass.

I've seen times where their world class automated bin system gets backed up and no one is moving. Literally the bins are lined up end to end to end from the beginning of the conveyor where people load their gear, right to the end where they remove it. Nothing moves. It's like they are allergic to opening up more lanes.

DHS has introduced new 'enhanced' security measures impacting flights originating from Canada bound for U.S. locations, effective today.

Anyone have any idea how this will impact NEXUS / Global Entry card holders?

Anyone know of any upcoming new flights to/from Calgary, domestic or internationally? Just curious to see how the airport is expanding to new locations after the terminal opening itself.

Since the new terminal opened we have had:

-Hainan to PEK
-Aeromexico to MEX
-Frontier announced DEN-YYC for 2018 start
-Delta to SEA
-AC to Cabo (starts October)
-AC Rouge to Huatulco (starts November)
-WS to Nashville

There are probably a bunch of tweaks from AC and WS to US, domestic and Sun destinations too.

Thanks! Was wondering if there was a website that tracks this sort of stuff.

Also, WSJ now flies to Nashville too.

Not really any site I'm aware of, usually posts on here and the YYC thread over at skyscraperpage.

I added the Nashville flight, forgot about that one.

I'm not sure when it is going to happen but Westjet is going to start flying into Mexico City.

I am taking a KLM flight to Amsterdam - Italy on Saturday.

I have never flown overseas before.

Anything different to expect than a normal 3-4 hour commuter flight in NA ?

Enjoy KLM, the 787 is a great airplane, and I find their service to be exceptional. Pound lots of Heineken. KLM is usually my first choice for trans-atlantic.

Last KLM flight I was on, the stewardess was slowing down service as they were dropping the lights to allow passengers to sleep. She knew that I would be looking for another Heineken, so she walked me back to where they store the beverage cart, and told me to help myself. I was blown away that they would actually trust their customer to that extent. That would never occur with a NA airline.

Yes, any updates on the enhanced security measures would be appreciated. I'm flying to Ecuador next week on American Airlines via Dallas. The flight leaves at 6:30 am. If I'm there for 4:30 am I good?

I have a RAIC (which works similar to Nexus) but I don't really want to have to worry about it in South America, so I'm thinking of not bothering with it since it will only help me slightly in Calgary.

I haven't been on KLM in several years, but if anything, you will be pleasantly surprised. I doubt that anything will be worse than North American flights and likely will be better. The only issue might be the Amsterdam to Italy part, if it happens to be a code share but that's a short flight anyway.

KLM international is great. The Italy flight will probably be a bit tighter seating from what I remember.
