the season opener wasnt bad i gotta admit i got bored half way through... Also characters i hate the teenage girl and the teenage boy they are so stupid but maybe it is them being oblivious to the new world and thinking everything is going to be ok. It is funny how this family tries to save everyone and ricks group just kills everyone

When I started watching it I likened the show to Season 2 of TWD. Where everyone hadnt quite gotten used to the way the world was now and were all a bit naive.
And season 2 sucked.

You have to remember the different timelines. All of this show is taking place during the time that Rick is lying in a coma at the beginning of TWD.
It took them a long time to get into "kill everyone who isn't us" mode.

And that's just it- you'd think that in 10-14 days since it started people would be more into helping each other. Get everybody in the suburban compound working together. Or at the very least- shut the fricken gate behind you when you leave.
Let everybody make bad choices that allows for lots of people to be killed, so that the group that emerges has learned from their experiences.
It would also have been nice if a character had said "It's too bad the air force started napalming LA before we had time to get the supplies for the boat ready." Would have saved me trying to explain that to my wife.

I just watched it last night. It was okay.
My biggest issue is that they are dropping into the murder gangs way to quickly. I just don't see society breaking down that quickly and people going into feral mode. At this point, there'd be lots of resources lying around. There'd be lots of boats and warehouses all over filled with goods.
Portraying the breakdown from society to total apocalypse is difficult. I actually prefer the way they handled it in TWD. Just skip that whole part and have someone wake up from a coma.

yes all the dumb decision making is supposed to be more realistic than Rick's band of Assassin's Creed characters...but is that what I actually want? there's enough morons doing moronic stuff in the real world, is that really going to be a Sunday night escape to watch them do the same thing in the zombie apocalypse?
throw us a Daryl, a Michonne, a Jesus, anything that we can at least rally around, cause right now the only person I hope makes it out alive is Strand, but I don't see him getting much further being outnumbered by all those clowns.

Ya, would have been nice if a few of the military guys had come along in the escape. They seam to be so focused on forcing this family drama on the show that they keep missing opportunities to make entertaining TV.

My wife and I were discussing this last night, its such a neat concept that they've somehow managed to make terminally boring.

And why was Strand locked up in the first place?

I'm thinking they thought he was crazy. Wish we knew more about his character.

I get the feeling he is sketchy and ####. He is a character that could drive this show. Hopefully, he is focused on and fleshed out a bit more.

He's pretty hard to read. He might be genuinely helping the rest or he might be transporting them to their doom.
My guess is that he was locked up due to general disobedience. The army probably came buy to remove him from his mansion. He said no. That was probably enough to justify a lockup.

I think he's helping them, he needed the drug kid to get out, and probably realizes having a few people with him is a good thing. He mentions something about Central America, which makes me think he might have a drug connection to his money.

When Madison goes up to see him and he says he was muttering to himself, he was speaking Spanish in a way that sounded like he was talking to somebody on a radio or phone. (Satellite phones should still be working at this point.)

The biggest weakness of this show is the casting. Just a terrible job. Which is remarkable because the casting on TWD has been really good, for the most part. I think they did a good job with Strand and Junkie but the rest are big whiffs.

TWD scripting has a way of neutering certain talents. For example, you'd assume Jon Bernthal was a complete dolt based on his portrayal of Shane. However, he's clearly got skills and kills it as the Punisher.
