For the contract predictions, you forgot 1 question: "With which team will the contract be signed"

You forgot to mention they both sign that same contract and have to split the money 50/50

Johnny 8 years $7.5M. Give him the Tarasenko contract I think he is worth it and that is great money for only playing 2 years in the league. Buys 3 UFA years. Get it done

Monahan 7 years $6.5M. This also buys 3 UFA years. If secures Monahan with the highest AAV out of MacKinnon, Barkov, Schiefele.

Flames cap structure would have the following
4 years Brodie
5 years Hamilton
6 years Gio
7 years Monahan
8 years Gaudreau
We would have a major UFA every year but wouldn't have to deal with 2 at the same time which hopefully makes it a bit easier to retain who they want to from this group.

I'm fairly certain we will see both get 8 years Gaudreau getting 7-7.5 and Monahan getting 6-6.5. The question is how much will be paid out as signing bonuses and what NTC/NMCs they may or may not have.

Monahan 42M/7 years - 6M AAV
Gaudreau 42M/6 years - 7M AAV

Matching totals, with Gaudreau getting the higher AAV to get a year shorter term. Avoids the issue of re-signing both at once. Treliving has to yield to requests for shorter term, so both can cash in with a long extension in their prime.

Broken by Kypreous, so no one believes it at first

Monahan: 8 years, 6.15M
Gaudreau: 8 years, 6.75M

Gaudreau takes a smaller hit to live with the "captain cap" (no one gets paid more than Gio) of 6.75M. Both signings get heralded as steals and the media runs with a "Flames youngsters show team spirit, take small discounts to help the Flames bring the cup back to Calgary"

...I once dreamed a dream.

I don't think either one is worth more than $6.25 per year and that should be about right for both. Monahan plays the more difficult position, so each is worth an equal amount.

If they were going to sign such a peachy contract that's exactly what we want it would've happened by now. They clearly disagree on at least one of term or dollar.

Gaudreau - 4 years - 6.5
Monahan - 4 years - 6.5

Gaudreau maybe as that takes him to last year of RFA but no chance in hell the Flames sign Monahan right to UFA status

What I said at $6.25M is pretty much in line with what the other young stars coming out of entry contracts are getting. Barkov got $5.9 per and MacKinnon got $6.3M.
