Glad to hear Rittich is back and has apparently avoided breaking quarantine.

Curious to see if the lines change during practice. Backlund and Bennett clearly worked in the third period.

I wouldn't mind seeing these lines.

Tkachuk - Lindholm - Leivo: I think Tkachuk and Lindholm are the top 200 ft forwards on this team, and I think putting Dube or Mangiapane here is a bit overkill, those players help out lines 2 & 3 more.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Dube: This line needs some speed and tenacity and Dube brings that. The play Dube made on Lindholm's goal is exactly what this line is missing, somebody who can get behind the d-men with speed and win a puck battle in the corner. Having somebody like Dube on this line will keep the defense more honest when playing Gaudreau.

Mangiapane - Backlund - Bennett: They looked good together in the third, might as well keep it going.

Lucic - Ryan - Simon: I could see Ryan and Simon working well together and even though Lucic was bad last night I think he just needs some time to get his legs going.

Edit: Sounds like the lines are the same as they were to start last game. Ridiculous...that 4th line didn't work all night and Simon deserves to get in a game.

I want to see the Flames ensure 5 of their true top 6 forwards are in the top 6

Tkachuk-Lindholm-Dube
Gaudreau-Monahan-Mangiapane
Bennett-Backlund-Leivo
Lucic-Ryan-Simon

Backlund being the only top 6 forward pushed to the bottom 6. 4th line is a 4th line but I like that top 9 more than what was on the ice last night

There's such a massive difference just from choosing the right/wrong 12th forward.

A Lucic-Bennett-Simon/Ryan or a Lucic-Ryan-Simon line is actually a line you can throw out there and trust with 8-10 minutes a night.

Nordstrom is just such a detriment 5v5 that he really turns the 4th line from something that could be good and drive play to one that gets dominated like it did last night (yes, Lucic was horrible last night too).

Makes absolutely no sense that Ward went back to exactly the same lineup. Especially considering how great Bennett looked with Backlund and Mangiapane in the 3rd.

Also hoping we see Andersson back with Hanifin sooner rather than later. They work together so nicely and would allow Giordano to help prop up Tanev (who looked good yesterday but really needs a D-partner who can kinda drag him possession-wise)

Backlund and Bennett were the pair carrying the team late in the game.

Bennett gets bumped to the ogre line.

But at least he's playing C, right guys?
...guys?

Re: the arena setup, it looks good, but Sportsnet will make sure our eyes bleed because of it. Also glad the Flames haven't done the ads along the bottom of the glass, just above the dasher like I've seen in Tampa and Detroit. Not a fan.

Lol make up your minds y'all, we can't be mad about Bennett not getting a chance at centre and Bennett not getting a chance higher up in the lineup.

The argument is pretty much this:

Please stop playing Sam Bennett with the dregs of the roster. Also, never play Lucic and Nordstrom on the same line.

Bennett belongs on Backlund's wing. It's the place he has had the most success in the NHL.

I prefer that to Ryan there fore sure, but I would like to see:

Tkachuk - Lindholm - Dube
Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Lucic - Backlund - Mangiapane
Leivo - Ryan - Nordstrom/Simon

Not only do I think Bennett would prosper, I think he would kickstart Gaudreau through his speed to add a faster option on rushes opening up room, can go hard into corner battles, plays with toughness, etc.
The Backlund line is all sound defensively, so you could throw them to the wolves and Lucic is actually a pretty good playmaker so Mangipane should get some good chances.
