I was probably one of a very small handful of people, but I enjoyed the 1998 Godzilla. Mind you, I was much younger when it came out.
With this one my hope was that they would give a darker take and not try to force a lot of silly humour where it shouldn't have been, like in the last one. Looks like they are doing just that. After JP4 and SW7 this is the most intriguing of upcoming reboot/sequel films for me.
There WILL be a second monster in the film. It's yet to be revealed definitively, but there is apparently a hint left in the trailer according to some.
Some of the crew, including 2 producers from Pacific Rim have a hand in the film. If you've seen Pacific Rim you'd have noticed the top notch visuals, some of the best displayed in a monster movie. This is very exciting if Godzilla's visuals will be nearly as good.
The visuals in pacific rim were good, hopefully they don't involve any of the script writers.
I'm an old school godzilla fan, zippers in costumes, stomping on cardboard buildings, chewing on rc model cars. All awesome.
from the brief glimpses, Godzilla looks like he's a lot bigger then the original, he'd better have the radiation breath because frankly how they did it in that other Godzilla movie sucked.
As for the other creature as much as I'd love to see a modern take on King Ghidorah, they could save him for another movie, I'd love to see Gigan with his chest chain saw or Destoroyah

When they got the scream right in the first trailer I pee'd a bit.
I had heard that there were two types of new monsters and more then one of each. An 8 legged spider and a moth like flying one which seems to be a bit of a rip off of a classic Godzilla enemy).
I have to admit that video clip of the diving creature had me squeeling holy crap its Rodan except Rodan isn't really a villian, he's an ally

Rumour has it that Warner is discussing some serious Godzilla based involvement with HMV at the Calgary Comic Expo. So if anyone is going, it might be worth checking out.
