Kensington folk usually suggest Gus's, Mash, Demetris. Next level is Pizza Bobs, Nicks, POW. I agree Matador is over-rated - so salty.
I like Gus's the most, but Gus is on my hockey team.

I am kind of disappointed by the lack of amazing restaurants in general in the further corners of the NW.

I had pretty much given up hope that my favorite Stromboli Inn would re-open. they typically did a super long winter break every year, and in 2020 they just never returned at all.
but today I found out that this exists, in the building right beside the original location:
http://toto-pizza.com/
and it looks a lot like the Stromboli recipe, which is unsurprising since it's the same family. between the original Kensington location and the more recent Bridgeland house, it was a 15 year gap between Stromboli pizzas and I don't think I could live through that again. hoping that this is the reunion I'm looking for.

Toto's was disappointing for me.
Pizza was very doughy and bland. Might have been undercooked, but at that price point, you'd better have some better QC than that.

Sad realization this week that Carmine's in Oakridge shut down. Looks like he is back to just the NW location.

i saw this article this morning and chuckled at the likely uproar from the cp crowd...
Pineapple pizza a winner
No matter how you slice it, pizza with pineapple is a clear winner with Canadians: poll
https://www.castanet.net/news/Opinio...Canadians-poll
Quote:
In 2019, when we first analyzed the propensity of the population to consume specific dishes, 66% of Canadians told us they would “definitely” or “probably” eat a pizza with pineapple. This year, the proportion has grown to 73%, hardly a minority of rascals as some social media users would lead us to believe. Pizza with pineapple enjoys its best “approval rating” in Alberta (90%) and British Columbia (83%) and its lowest in Quebec (55%).

Not surprising. Pineapple and ham = awesome.
You have a very vocal minority that screams from the rooftops that fRuIt DoEsN't BeLoNg oN PizZa" but they are just that, an insecure minority.
They also conveniently forget about all the other fruit that will end up on a pizza, like the tomato sauce.

They just prefer their pineapple to be on their poutine.

Yeah it's a shame the owner turned out to be a nitwit as the pizza was good.
