Waiver wire Sept 21. UPD: Martel claimed by TB.
Today is the first day to put players on waivers for assignment to the AHL.

Flames should certainly claim Oscar Dansk. In my mind, that is a no-brainer.

Rebound? He was always an AHL guy.

We need to give Bennett a break. Perhaps a Butler pickup will establish CP balance

Matt Moulson lol nobody is going to take that contact. And I didn't know Butler was still playing in North America

He has less AHL games than Gillies and Rittich and similar numbers. He's basically the same as those two. Don't get fooled by his numbers in a short stint with Vegas; that was a miracle season for them.

Dansk has looked good in the preseason and basically whenever he's played in North America in recent years. He's exactly the type of gamble the Flames need to make. I want to see a new face in goal in this organization.

Perhaps the flames were right in their assessment that Tyler Wotherspoon is an AHL player.

I'd take a shot with Dansk also, if I was a team like Edmonton who doesn't really have a ton of internal options. Rittich and Gillies need time in the NHL to develop.

I disagree. I'm almost completely over Gillies and Rittich. I think at a certain point we're stifling progress in favour of misguided loyalty to the mediocre options we already have. I think the Flames are going to shoot themselves in the foot if they don't pursue external options very soon.

Not that I disagree, but Dansk hasn't done anything to set himself apart from Gillies or Rittich. We can't just bring in another goalie that isn't a clear upgrade because Parsons needs to get AHL games this year.

Waivered early so that he clears and other teams haven't found out if their guys are NHL ready.
Hutchinson waived as Luoungo and Riemer will be the Panthers goalies.
102 NHL games 43-39-11 on a team that was missing the playoffs on a regular basis.
Last year in the AHL 17-5-1 2.08 GA .935 Sv % 2nd Team year end AHL All Star.
Flames won't pick him up as they hope Rittich and/or Gillies will be better.

Yeah, Dansk would be interesting. But.... it ultimately depends on how confident the Flames brass is about Gillies and Rittich.
Also, I suspect they're going to give Parsons the lions share in Stockton if he shows well the rest of camp. Already limited space for starts throughout the lineup.

Those numbers are a bit misleading. He started out hot with the Jets in in 14-15 where he went 21-10-5, but then in the following two seasons he only came away with 18 wins in 58 games played. You're right he was good in the AHL last year though.
I'm sure the Flames refer to their scouts and goalie coaches, but it's hard to see this guy being a clear upgrade.
