Well when you put it that way, I'm glad I bought a bunch of $30 Reebok retro jerseys from SportCheck.
Items that aren't new or groundbreaking:
- Points for not doing something stupid like a new bedazzled western horse wordscript logo combo
- Negative points for not making these home jerseys and making a new alternate
- Negative points for literally doing a rehash of the retro. Make it a remix, a redux, whatever you want to call it. Use the same palette, but for the love of god change it a bit. Thin the stripes. Thicken the stripes. Add the CF/mountain shoulder patches. Put the snot donkey on as a shoulder patch. If I have 8 reebok retros sitting in my closet, give me enough of a reason to buy this. Don't make me put them side by side and think "Is the only difference the size tag?", then charge me $150 more for the privilege.
You want a new arena? You have a license to print money. Either make the alternate a "Retro 2.0", or bring this to the primary home, do whatever you want for the away, and have fun with the third. Don't leave money on the table and whine you're going to move the team.

There's also a small fight strap and the crest looks better. Not sure that warrants an almost 100% price increase for a blank, but it is a bit of an upgrade from the Premiers.

It's actually extraordinary the amount of flack the new retros are getting on social media. Count me in the minority, but I for one think they look amazing. Consider this; the Crest material is not a giant glued on white C with the embroidered gold, (like the Reebok replicas) but instead, it's the real sewn on patch. I Cant wait to get my hands on one.

If the Horsehead was that popular, you would think they'd be a lot more common at the Dome? I don't mind it (the updated Adidas version that was posted earlier in the thread actually pops quite a bit), but at the end of the day I'd rather have a classic uniform that the players like playing in versus random fans having a cool hipster jersey to add to the collection.

Still not convinced it justifies the $$$, but that is a huge upgrade on the Reebok version...

With last year's jersey, when i went to buy a Jagr authentic, they told me that, there were in fact 3 versions (not 2): the replica; the authentic; and then the actual game jerseys that the team wore. And the game version jerseys were not purchasable.
Is that true with these as well? Or is the authentic actually back to being truly authentic?

Yes there are still 3 versions.
The "Fanatics Breakaway" is the cheaper replica
The "Adidas Authentic Pro" is the "authentic" they sell to fans.
Then there is the actual game worn which doesn't seem to be sold in stores.

The post I quoted here had a link to a store that sold shirts with the logo. I thought it was similar to the other posts in this thread linking the reddit designs. Only by finding the original thread did I realize it was torrent's logo and he was linking to his own store. |

They look like every other iteration:
The original flames jersey
The CCM vintage collection
The Reebok retro
The Adidas retro
You're basically paying an extra $125 to have that patch sewn on. Which it was with the cheaper, and available, authentic Reebok Retro.

Happy with this and intend to buy one to support them making good choices.
Should be our primary home and hopefully they make that decision and switch the roads too for the classic whites. Nothing wrong with the New Jersey approach of having one set of primary homes / aways and keeping it like that for years and then having the 3rds as your ability to get creative.
Beautiful jersey in my mind. Now it’s just a matter of what player do I get.
