That's a shame. A few generations ago Capcom was a power developer but they kind of messed up some of their top IP's (Resident Evil, Devil May Cry) and lost their magic. Also it doesn't help that fighting games are no longer big attractions. I suppose Monster Hunter is a big success for them even though I personally don't get the attraction with that game as I bought it and got bored really fast with it. I actually liked a few of the dead rising games but the formula got a little stale. I still think they should make a new Onimusha game.

When your studio basically only does one series and your latest entry flops hard, that's not unexpected.

I think if any developer is actually starting to get their mojo back after losing it, it's Capcom.

-Resident Evil VII was very well received and a big hit.
-Monster Hunter: World, great reviews and their best selling game ever.

Upcoming we have:

-Mega Man 11, first true new Mega Man game in 8 years after many thought the franchise was dead.
-Resident Evil 2 Remake. Looks awesome.
-Devil May Cry 5 -- also looks good, first game in the series in 5 years.

And they're doing a remaster of Onimusha coming out in January, so clearly testing the waters on that franchise again.

RE7 was great and I can't argue with Monster Hunter's success for sure. I don't know if a new Mega Man will resonate with today's gamers and while I can't wait to play RE2 remake I'm not sure younger gamers will be all over it as well with DMC. They are great games for people like us that played the originals but I don't know if they are AAA sellers in this day and age of Fortnite addicts. My kids play nothing else now. It's been great for me as we haven't been buying them new games but I don't know if that's great for the industry. Didn't know about the Onimusha as that's great news. They have some great older franchises but my concern is that they really hasn't had much in the way of new IP's that have been huge successes.

Fair, but I think there's still a huge core of gamers invested in AAA single player games to make those successes. Fortnite is just the next casual gaming phenomenon to take off, like Wii Sports, Minecraft, Pokemon Go, etc.

Case in point, the new Spider-Man game moved 3.3 million copies in 3 days. Nothing is going to hit Fortnite numbers, but I don't think that's a good barometer for success.

Star Control: Origins comes out today. Star Control 2 is one my all-time favourite games so I was looking forward to this. Looks like it suffers from some of the same gameplay issues as Mass Effect and No Man’s Sky. Im still going to give it a try but I’ll probably go back to playing Two Point Hospital, which has been a lot of fun.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/...ng/1346187002/

The popular comic-book superhero's recent resurgence has expanded beyond cinemas and into the world of video games, with the wallcrawler's latest self-titled game selling a record 3.3 million copies in the first three days of its release this month.

The number of copies sold set a record for Sony, makers of the PlayStation 4 and publisher behind the game, as the fastest selling first-party video game release in the company's history. "Spider-Man" takes the title from the latest release of the popular video game franchise "God of War," which sold more than 3.1 million copies in its first three days in May.

Well there's only so many times you can release the same game on the same engine just with different branding before it gets old

^ Yup. I only played one Telltale game (Guardians of the Galaxy) and it had cool moments but was mostly just boring.

Horizon Zero Dawn is phenomenal. Combat, the beautiful world, crafting, the menus. It’s not confusing, gameplay is fluid, great story. It’s not as tedious as AC Origins or Shadow of War.

Its too bad I’ve been playing other games for the last while that I didn’t like all that much.

Hah, I waited forever for that game to go on sale, it did, I bought it, went home and put it into my PS4... which immediately went to BLOD. That was a while ago, I only this weekend got around to taking it in to see if it could be fixed. So yeah, I'm still waiting to play that.

No custom design. But $499 - so you get the game for free I think.
