Nadal says he is not sure about playing Basil anymore. I hope he doesnt, rest up for Paris and WTF which are more important. You don't want to pull an Andy Murray and burn yourself out for next year chasing the year end #1 spot.
Also why does Paris get 2 important tennis events in a year? I feel like the ATP1000 event should move either to another place in Europe or to Asia. Paris already has the French Open.
Denis loses in straight sets to Escobedo - Set scores were 7-6(5), 6-4. Also, Genie lost in her match to Johanna Larsson, but hey at least she won the first set before dropping the final two.

Nadal drops out of Basil which shouldn't be a surprise, seems he injured his knees again. From his Facebook post:
I sadly announce that I have to pull out of the Swiss Indoors Basel, after seeing my doctor in Spain just after landing from Shanghai,
I am suffering from an over stressing of the knee and the problems where already present at the tournament in Shanghai which now forces me to take a time off on advice of my doctor.
After two great weeks in China, with the title in Beijing and the final in Shanghai it is time for some rest.
I want to send a special message to the many tennis fans in Switzerland which have always showed great support and respect also on my matches with Roger.
Hope to see you next year.
Hey, Rebecca Marino is coming back - She's entered the tournament in Saguenay, Quebec this weekend.
What was the decision process to make this comeback?
So, I had been coaching for the last few years and I had been involved in tennis, so I never really left. And I think just being around more high-performance players and seeing the Odlum Brown tournament in Vancouver inspired me to start playing again. I figured that now is the best chance that I have so that I don’t regret it later.
How long ago did you start the comeback and what is your schedule for the rest of the year?
I started training again during the first week of September, so it’s been a pretty short and quick training schedule, but I’m just doing it because I enjoy it. I’m going to be playing in Saguenay and Toronto and then start with some lower challengers [South Africa] so that I start with a ranking.
Tennis Canada@TennisCanada Genie is into her second doubles final of the year in Luxembourg. Going for her first title on Saturday with Flipkens. #CdnTennis

Tennis Canada@TennisCanada Milos Raonic has officially called it quits on 2017 due to ongoing injury concerns: http://bit.ly/2kZJTX6 .
Get well soon @milosraonic!
Hope to see you in Brisbane, Milos - Get healthy.
Smart decision by the Raonic camp. If he cannot get healthy over the next 8-10 weeks we may be talking about this jeopardizing his career. Get some rest and get healthy!

First off from Antwerp, Belgium, it was a bittersweet day for the local lads as Belgium's #1 (#10th ranked) David Goffin got outpointed by 19 year old promising Greek upstart (#122 ranked) Stefanos Tsitsipas 2-6, 7-6, 7-6.
There was better news on the way for the partisans regarding another other Belgium hero though as Ruben Bemelmans (#98) managed to outlast grinder Joao Sousa (#61) to the tune of 4-6, 7-6, 6-4.
The next quarterfinal matchup consisted of two French vets going at it with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (#17) seeing off his compatriot in journeyman Julien Benneteau (#93) by the score of 7-6, 6-2.
The outcome of one more Antwerp QF match is still yet to be determined as ultimate grinders David Ferrer (#31) and Diego Schwartzman (#26) are currently embroiled in their battle. Latest update has Schwartzman leading Ferrer 7-5, 3-1 to this point.

Shapo and Sugita are going to a third set in Basel - Sugita won the first set 6-4, Shapo bounced back to take set 2 6-2
Quite surprising to see Sugita Ranked #38 in the world with a 22-14 record this season. This wouldn't be an upset for El Shapo by any means but a pretty solid win nonetheless if he can finish it off.

He does indeed finish it off, but it went to a tie-breaker in set 3 which Denis won 7-3. Nice.
Denis will face the winner of Bemelmans and Mannarino in his next match which in my opinion is a winnable match regardless of his opponent.
Hopefully he doesn't have to endure another match against Mannarino. That guy is so unconventional and below average at everything that he throws everyone off their game.
