Default Quick time list - Best and worst Sports Entrances

I don't know why I'm doing a second list so soon, maybe I feel like I'm making people feel a bit better by giving them entertainment or good memories to think about in these gloomy times.

Maybe I actually for the first time in a while had what I define as a decent day. I don't know.

But Sports always electrifies us, we all remember that time as a young child or teen or adult when we jumped out of our seat as our hero's took to the ice or the field or whatever. Sometimes they're spontaneous, sometimes they're highly choreographed, sometimes they're great and sometimes they're just utterly terrible.

I want to cover some of the good and the bad here. Maybe I can generate some good feelings of nostalgia or some laughs. If I do, mission accomplished and I'll consider this my own sports entrance.

1) C of Red 2004.

Of course I'm going to put this here, what are you new? The Flames had missed the playoffs for so long that some fans literally went from elementary school to high school graduation, picked their college, lost their virginity and bought and sold their first cars without seeing a single playoff game in the Saddledome. That's why the 2004 to the Cup was so magical, it was like excising a huge boil of inadequecy when it came to the Flames. I still rank the C of Red above things like the Orange Crush or the White out or other Hockey entrances because honestly, the C of Red didn't need team provided red T-Shirts, and it was pretty much a fan created thing and it looked and sounded amazing and shook the rink and the city.

2) Virgina Tech - Enter Sandman

College Football Entrances are awesome, and there are probably better, but none more of a build of to explosion then this one. The walk from the dressing room builds to an explosion by the fans. I know that when you start playing this you'll be jumping up and down in your office or living room or whatever.

3) All Black Haka

Not as much an entrance as a ritual, but there was nothing more intimidating in the game of Rugby that fired up the fans. People talked about this even when they didn't care about the game itself

4) NFL Stadium flyovers.

The NFL doesn't have all that much pagentry when it comes to pregame stuff, but they have the tradition of flyovers. The roar of Aircraft passing low over full stadiums is always awesome.

5) The Ottawa Senators 300

The Ottawa Senators seem to usually have these tremendous brain farts when it comes to entertaining their fans, but dropping super heavy beach balls from the rafters to imitate the bombing of Germany in WW2 to this one. Someone thought it would be a great idea to rip off the Spartans to pump up the fans in 2008, and it probably could have been a great idea . . . who am I kidding this was doomed to nationally televised embarrassment when it came off of the drawing board. From the badly fitted outfit, to the poor guy trying to look menacing to the Sens openly covering their mouths and laughing through the walk to the ice, this was great for all the wrong reasons.

6) Clemson touching the rock

This is awesome to watch as the team takes a bus from the locker room and it circles the stadium, then the team comes down the hill and touches the iconic Howard's Rock before taking to the stadium

7) Toronto Raptors Finals 2019 pregame player intro

Look I'm not a basketball guy but this gave me fracking chills

#3, my unpopular opinion, the Haka has got to be the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen in sports. It’s just a primitive grunting, tongue sticking, thigh slapping ritual to intimidate the enemy. I wouldn’t mind it if it’s just a few seconds but they’ve turned this into a minute long choreography.

I’ve often wanted the other to team to laugh and make funny faces at them, rather than having to stand there and take it.

The other team should do their own routine - like, Monty Python “funny walks.”

I flip and flop on the haka, to be honest. It is deeply ingrained in the Kiwi's and their lives. While it can be argues it gives them a competitive advantage, the issuing of a challenge is one of the things that separates my lovely sport from others

BTW, it isn't just the Kiwi's that issue a challenge to their opponents:

and my favourite rugby nation:

Nope. I'm not playing those guys. Way too scary.

Chief Osceola at FSU games is so cool. The tribe is into it. Everybody loves it. The horse is gorgeous. Super hype...

The Virginia Tech entrance is hands down my favorite entrance - in any sport. You can see the event on a seismograph.

Man I'm gonna miss the spectacle that is college football this fall. Remembered watching this game a couple of seasons ago, what a start. Then Clemson throttled the Hokies once the game started.

LOL! ###### Entrances are hilarious.

This boxer was one of the best:

Hamed was known for his unconventional boxing antics and spectacular ring entrances which included entering the ring on a flying carpet, a lift, and a palanquin, as well as re-enacting the video of Michael Jackson's Thriller, and wearing a Halloween mask.

I used to love watching boxing. I wish I could remember the fighters. But the announcing booth hyped up one of the fighters as the next great boxer and surefire world champion. I think it was a middle weight bout. So this mega hyped fighter comes out with the huge entourage, making fierce faces and verbalizing to the camera what he was going to do while his music thudded in the background.

Then he got in the ring and was the victim of a flash knockout when he took the first jab of the fight.

It was so much like the SCTV Rocky skit with John Candy where they made this false documentary with John Candy as the underdog, and then got to the fight and hyped it up because Candy just wanted to go the distance with the champ. Then 9 seconds into the fight he gets knocked out and Levy and Flarhety just stare at each other in shock for a minute. It was a brilliant skit

Yes it is the Canucks and like Edmonton they are no good; however, this one has always given me goosebumps:

What makes that one even better is the fact that the Canucks ended up getting thoroughly trounced on home ice in embarrassing fashion. Man, that was such a glorious night.

Apollo Creed in Rocky IV

In retrospect, he probably should have save some juice for the ring. Drago was pretty badassed walking up too.

The best intro's have always been in Darts. I'm partial to the "muffin man's" intro. But there are other good ones too...

College football has some great traditions. Splitting the T? Dotting the I? Not as electrifying as Va Tech’s entrance, but the charm and nostalgia factor is high.
