Man for a guy that's only played in two games he spent a lot of time on different practice rosters. Looks like he's an undersized RB with speed to burn. Could be a good find.

Usually makes for a good KR in the CFL.

Yeah, but if the alternative is a cancelled season then I think players will go for it. And to be honest with the CFL being a gate driven league I'd argue that a season was never going ahead without some kind of concession like this.

The idea that the CFL was just going ahead with no fans was a pipe dream, imo.

20% is really good for the players w/o fans imo, certainly with the topping up option as the season goes on.

Like Jayswin said, alternative is no season or weeks cancelled that would just cost them more than 20% of their salaries anyways.

Will it be worth it for some Americans to play at a discounted salary paid in CDN dollars? A lot of these guys have other jobs and endeavors.

Fly Alex fly.

The Philadelphia Eagles have officially re-signed CFL star turned NFL starter Alex Singleton.

Singleton was an Exclusive Rights Free Agent. The ERFA designation is put on any NFL player with fewer than three accrued seasons and an expired contract. If his original team offers him a one-year contract and the league minimum, based on his credited seasons, the player cannot negotiate with other teams.

Singleton started 11 games at linebacker in his second season with Philadelphia and made 120 tackles, 75 solo, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, one pass knockdown and one interception, which was returned for the game-clinching touchdown during the Eagles first win of the season in Week 4.

Does this mean he only got one year at league minimum? Thought he would have earned a multi year with his showing last season.

Still pretty good dough for one season. That's USD so he wouldn't make that much in 5 years in the CFL.

I know nothing about NFL contracts but it sounds like he was the equivalent of an RFA; if he has another good season he should hopefully be able to really cash in next year on the open market.

That's half of what the NHL got from NBC for the past decade. That seems high but the article makes some good points

Didn't know TSN gave the CFL $50M CDN per year. That's more than I figured.

That's my understanding based on the podcast interview with him that I heard. He didn't really have any negotiating room at this point. The hope is that he stays healthy and can cash in on the next contract.

There's no doubt a merger could work out but it would have to be done right. If the CFL gets $50 million CDN I suppose $100 million USD may be feasible especially with Amazon getting involved in broadcasting sports. I would love to hear more details in regards to rules.

It would be interesting if they played CFL rules for Canadian home games and XFL rules in US home games. Though it would probably be too confusing for the players and too big of a headache for the coaches.

A big fear about a merger is that most American players will prefer to play in the USA and the Canadian teams will mostly end up being at the bottom of the standings.

I’ll lose it if the American teams can play with all Americans and Canadian teams have to maintain Canadian content, plus NFL rules.

When the XFL inevitably collapses again that could kill the CFL for good.

Minus the NFL rules, that was the case last time, right? The US teams could use all Americans on their roster.

Yes, and it gave the American teams a big advantage.
