Thumbs down Weird Freakin' Scheduling

After tomorrow night's game, for some strange reason the Flames have 5 straight nights with no games, then play at more than a 1 game every 2 nights pace for the rest of the season. So weird. I get that the north division format creates scheduling difficulties, but still...

odd number of teams and playing multiples in the same city means here will always be one team on a "break" at some point.

Flames just get the 1st one.

I think it could be hugely beneficial as well after such short training camps and no time to practice to start.

It's not a strange reason, they designed it that way so the Flames had a stretch of no game days to knock off Pierre Luc Dubois quarantine time.

The time is now to get it done.

Isnt it just the mandated 'break?'

Besides, I'd rather have it early and then roll on during the rest of the season.

This team always sucks after having time off.

It's time for points % standings in the NHL too

I wonder when Rittich will get his first start. January is not a very heavy schedule. No bact to backs until Feb 1/2

Just watch the Oiler games and enjoy the losses. It's only 5 days.

No, there is no break this year. Ward said they will practice 4 times in those 5 days.

With such a short camp this could be a good thing. Get a handful of extra practices in

This seems to be true. Nice to get it out of the way earlier.

No, there is no mandated break this season.

Many (but not all) teams have a stretch at some point this season where they don't play a game for at least 4 days in a row. The Flames just happen to have theirs very early in the season.

The 5 days off gives the team some much needed practice time. They can use that time to work on their 5 on 5 play that has not been great.

I'm sort of letting all schedule complaints go this year considering how rushed it was to get us hockey.

Do the teams in other divisions also have a long break or is just the North Division because it only has seven teams? i.e. an odd number of teams

I believe every team does, it’s so in case rescheduling of games is needed I believe.

Every team plays 56 games. Being all divisional, I imagine that travel is more balanced than most years too.

I don't get the angst over the schedule.

Agreed. Just play who you play when you play them and quit complaining
