This thread had a great intention but was poorly executed.

Why limit to 3 pests? All should be named. Some teams have more than others.
Many of the “pests” won’t play, are on the wrong team or aren’t pests at all.

Flames win though: Tkachuk, Lucic, Rinaldo, Bennett is a lot to handle. Tkachuk is a top 3 NHL pest while Lucic is arguably the best fighter in the NHL while Rinaldo is not far behind.

Yes. We got away from what this debate was, and part of that was my fault with the “soft” comment. But I agree with you that the Flames top this list

Hm. I wouldn't argue that the flames are a tough team necessarily, nor a big team. But I doubt this claim.

IMO this is how I would break it down.
Toughest (5): Lucic

2nd group (3 points)
Horvat (+1 for being second IMO)
Bennett
Tkachuk
Miller
Andersson

3rd group (2 points)
Virtanen
Pearson
Mangiapane
Dube
gaudette
Sutter
Motte
Beagle
Roussel
Nordstrom
Monahan
Lindholm
Backlund
Giordano
Schmidt
Myers
Benn

4th group (1 point)
Ryan
Simon
Boeser
Juolevi
Tanev
Valimaki
Hughes
kylington
Hanifin

5th group (0 points)
Edler
Pettersson
Gaudreau (-1 for last place, by a hair)

Total points: Flames 33 Canucks 30

It was closer than I thought but it seems I disagree! They're better in the middle but we have more top end tough.

No one is scared of the $6million dollar shell of Milan Lucic.

Pettersson hits more than Virtanen.

No one is scared of him? Remember Zadorov basically begging the ref to step in the way of Lucic before he got to him?

Don’t be silly

Here is my quick rankings off the top of my head:

1. MTL - Weber / Perry / Gallager (Edmundson / Anderson)
2. CGY - Tkachuk / Lucic / Anderrson
3. EDM - Nurse / Kassian / Khaira
4. TOR - Bogosian / Simmond / Hyman
5. OTT - Borocop / Coburn / Tkachuk
6. WPG - Lowry / Beaulieu / Shore

7. Van - Myers / Ferland / Roussel

When I think Pest, I think of guys who get under opponents skin, will throw a hit, but draw more penalties than they take, giving their team an advantage.

That said, here's my list:

1. CGY - Tkachuk/Mangiapane/Dube/Andersson
Lucic is more Deterrent than Pest, and Bennett while physical, takes to many penalties to be a guy that throws the other team off, if anything, he throws his own team off.

2. WPG - Copp/Wheeler/Perreault/Lowry
Ehlers could make a case for the list, as he draws a tonne of penalties, but it's more due to hard work then drawing teams into a trap.

3. OTT - Tkachuk/Paul/J.Brown/Paquette
Some good additions, Stepan is another guy who was close to the list, same with Austin Watson

4. MTL - Lehkonen/Byron/Armia/Petry/Anderson
Weber and Perry fall into the same grey area as Bennett, while they can be physical, and a pain to play against, they are penalized far more than they draw.

5. EDM - Haas/Archibald/Khaira
Neal is a guy that almost made the list, but has become easy to play against. Nurse and Kassian are brain dead, and cost their team far more than they provide.

6. VAN - Virtanen/Motte/MacEwan
If Motte and MacEwan become everyday players, they provide a tonne of clean physicality, both throwing over 15 hits per 60, while not being over penalized. Pettersson also a pain to play against, as he draws a tonne of penalties.

7. TOR - Vesey/Sandin?
This team is soft as baby poop.....

I think Bennett is low key one of the tougher guys pound for pound in the league. And he devastates guys with big, clean hits. I would definitely have him ahead of Horvat

I would be scared of trying to score when Lucic is on the ice. Last year, it was kind of hard for opposing teams to do.

Muzzin is the only one I could think of for the Leafs. I wouldn't say Hyman is a pest. He plays very clean and just works hard. Bogo and Simmonds I don't really have an opinion on yet.

Vancouver and TO are clearly the bottom of this ranking; Calgary and Montreal are clearly at the top.
What this means for success however is debatable.

I don't think it is debatable at all. These rankings mean absolutely nothing for success.
