I hated having We The North marketing shoved down our throats.

I hope we win this division and start shoving We The North down Leaf nations throat.

Playing these same teams so many times in short order may lead to some new rivalries. I'm glad for this.

This season could be crazy boring at times, create intense rivalries, be great news for TSN and SN hockey coverage and could be the best chance for a Canadian champion in a while.

Did Sportsnet ever figure out their rights for Flames games?

To break it down a bit:

- 10 back-to-backs
- 3 games in a row against Winnipeg (×2) and Montreal (×1)
- 4 games in a row against Vancouver (×1) and Ottawa (×1)

This is going to be WILD

Wish we saw Edmonton a little sooner. However they should be over their usual fast start by the time the Flames play them.

so I got the email notification from rogers/NHL that the NHL Live subscription is $160 for the year.

What's the broadcast situation with flames games this season? Living in Toronto, do I still need this subscription to watch all flames games OR will there not be any out of region blackouts of the broadcast???

I can't be the only that sees potential for catastrophe playing the Oilers 10 times. That rivalry is already hot. Imagine the suspensions, the injuries, this is gonna be a war.

This is going to be an absolute insane gong-show of a season... but in a very very very awesome way.

Injuries are going to be insane this season.
The lack of pre season plus the intensity of rivalries as you've mentioned, is going to sideline a lot of players.

Regarding a jersey schedule... here's a transcription of a Twitter thread I just posted.

"With the release of the NHL's schedule today, I'm told that teams are now able to submit the dates for when they wish to wear their Reverse Retro and other alternate jerseys.

Apparently teams are not allowed to request dates before February 1 to wear their Reverse Retro jerseys.

As for the Flames, I would be surprised if they didn't choose to put the new Blasty jerseys on full display for their first matchup against the Oilers.

They first meet on Saturday, Feb. 6, which I presume will be a national HNIC game.

Of note: the Flames can choose to submit a request to wear a RR jersey in a certain game, but they don't have control over what their opponents wear. So if they wanted to have an RR vs. RR game against the Oilers on Feb. 6, both teams would have to submit that date to the NHL.

As for the flag alternate... speculating, but I think matchups against Toronto (maple leaf flag vs. Maple Leafs?) and Ottawa (the flag of Canada vs. the Canadian capital) make sense.

I'm told CGY is going to "try to wear [the 3] different [home] jerseys against each opponent.""
