Bettman has talked for years about hating the idea of jerseys on ads. Of course the revenue these helmet ads bring in could change things.

I'd be fine with a small helmet ad as long as they don't touch the jerseys.

They could also potentially be looking at doing a larger league-wide helmet sponsorship, so they don't want teams to sign long-term deals now which could conflict with a bigger deal down the road.
