Little-known fact: The Johnny Cash song, ‘A Boy Named Sue’, was originally supposed to be ‘A Boy Named Orca’. The idea had to be shelved when Shel Silverstein couldn't come up with enough rhymes for Orca.

The sister's name is Oceania.

I don't mind it actually, but definitely unconventional.

ah, too bad. The stories around Ozzy being drafted and how his deaf parents had supported him were actually pretty cool.

Poor Ozzy doesn't get to start his nhl career on a good note because his dumb brother will tarnish their family name. What a stupid loser

Ocean was not co-operative but did stay calm in comparison to the rather unprofessional cursing police officers.
Hard to make a judgment without seeing the build up. The other skaters have already left the ice. Why didn't Ocean?

Once the officers have committed to making an arrest, they cannot back down. That would set an horrible precedent. After that point, Ocean is resisting arrest and becomes in the wrong regardless of whether the arrest reason was reasonable.

It must be frustrating and difficult for peace officers being directed to enforce laws and regulations they may not even support. That's on the politics not them.

Different take from me watching it for sure. You're saying this guy stayed calmer than the swearing police officers. Okay.

But he had already been asked to get to the ground for the arrest. It doesn't matter how calm you are in not complying, you are escalating the arrest to a take down, full stop. They were two female police officers that were clearly struggling to get him down while he tried to stay up, and OMG they dropped an F bomb!!! Like **** me.

Resisting arrest is treated as a very dangerous situation by police, for very good reason. They took the situation where it needed to go, and it went there because of this self centred, attention seeking moron.

His brother Orca played for the Hitmen. Oaziz plays for Medicine Hat.

This ends better for everyone if Mr. Wiesblatt does one of three things.

1. He's told by the police officers that they are enforcing a public health order and he must remove himself from the ice and leave. Mr. Wiesblatt leaves. This situation is over.

2. He makes the decision not to leave so the officers decide to ticket him. Mr. Wiesblatt gives the officers his name (not like they'd probably believe him if he told them his real name, anyway). He leaves, the situation is over.

3. The officers explain that because he a) refuses to leave and b) refuses to provide his name, they are arresting him. Mr. Wiesblatt, although he may disagree, steps off the ice and gets arrested, probably gets a stern talking to and a ticket, and goes home. The situation is over.

Instead, for whatever reason, we're watching this video of this guy making an absolute fool of himself, a couple of obviously frustrated police officers swearing because they have to deal with this idiot, and he's posting stuff on Facebook that this "fight isn't over". What the hell, man. If I'm this family with a public profile in this small city, I'm putting out a statement at the same time saying "What our son did in resisting arrest was wrong and we fully support the Calgary Police Service and their authority to enforce Public Health Measures to curb the spread of Covid-19." Full Stop.

Instead this is starting to turn into a public embarrassment.

This loser managed to embarrassed himself, his family, the CPS, and those two officers with his tough guy anti-lockdown act. Well done Ocean!

This should be in the off-topic forum.

Im honestly getting really tired of these anti-maskers. Selfish, entitled, morons who fail to open their eyes to whats happening in our communities, our care homes and hospitals. Who care so little about everyone else, they’re ok with put everyone else’s lives and livelihoods in danger.
What recourse do you leave the cops if you fail to comply and refuse to give your name?

For the curious, that video is the final ~4 minutes of a 36 minute encounter.

Can’t believe this didn’t come up until the second page.

Clearly the officers are CPer’s, and want our 2004 Cup back!

The family was featured a few times this year -- single mom of five kids (four boys) who is also deaf:

The video of Ozzy getting drafted was great, this one not so much...

I'm usually pretty hard on CPS, as I feel that anyone in an authority position in a society of equals need to be held to a very high standard.

Could have the officers handled it a bit better, ya, but frankly, they are two officers with shoes on trying to arrest someone resisting who has skates on while on ice. Another mitigating factor is this person is skilled at keeping their balance on those skates in a physical game. I was shocked they didn't tase him (or at least it didn't look like it in the video).

I've seen this going around labelling this adult as a kid is trying to load people's feelings oh they are just young kids playing hockey, he's 21 years old, he is an adult. This was 40 some on adults breaking a public health order.
