I hope he recovers from whatever heart condition he's dealing with.

Wishing a good recovery to the King. Hate to see stuff like this

Washington maybe takes a flyer on a guy like Jimmy Howard? Or do they just go with Phoenix Copley?

I do as well, I can't help but think though that this is the end for him in the NHL, a great career, and a new career as a GQ model I guess.

I'd update the thread title. Its not wrong per se, but its not like hes really making a choice here.

This kind of thing is terrifying and, frankly, I think hes done enough in his career.

For a pandemic truncated and contentious season?

I hope Henrik makes a recovery, especially with heart issues - long-term health is far more important than hockey.

That said, does this make Washington in the market for a goaltender?

Yeah, but there are options in FA. With C.Andersen , Miller, Condon, Schneider.

Via trade? Who knows.

Hoping for a full recovery so the most beautiful man in hockey can go back to making my heart ache instead of his own.

Issues with the heart are truly scary, hopefully it's something that can be remedied and controlled. I'm young and dealt with my own heart issue last year. For the first time, I felt like I didn't have control over what my body was doing and was reminded entirely too soon about my own mortality.

Really hope to see the king take to the ice for one more season.

I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Was looking forward to seeing him in net for the capitals.

Interesting. Definitely hoping he can get it diagnosed and treated.

There are different types of heart issues. Wonder what his is. Having a heart issue doesn’t necessarily have to mean retirement. Some are very treatable.

Wow I hope he can recover well. It would be such an unfortunate end to an incredible career. Hopefully it's something relatively minor that they can correct without too much trouble.

As someone who ended up having to have open heart surgery back in June, at about the same age as Henrik, I am cheering for him.
He is lucky, like I was, in that his issue was discovered before it was too late.

oh boy.. that sounds pretty serious.

Always had a ton of respect for Lundqvist. Hoping he has a successful procedure and full recovery.

Sounds serious but I imagine he's got the best care.

TBF, he's caused my wife some heart problems too. Curses, Henrik, you handsome devil.

Sorry to hear his issue is major and invasive. Hope he has a successful procedure and recovery. He had a good career. Assuming he hangs up the skates and hoping he is able to get back to jamming with John McEnroe soon.

Hank is one of those guys anyone would love to meet for lunch or a drink. Seems like a great guy who would have amazing stories.

All the best to one of the best.
