They asked Iginla why they moved to Boston. Stated that it was because of kids who play travel hockey. Denver was too isolated and required too much travel for tournaments (he has 3 kids playing) and they were sick of travel.
So they presented options to the kids. Boston was still fresh in their minds so they chose Boston. He said it had been many years since they were in Calgary and kids were much younger at that time so probably why they didn't pick Calgary.
So Jarome is like the rest of us. The kids wield a ton of power in the household!

Yeah the basics of the three man team are
1. Host/Funny guy - the Boomer role
2. Straight "sports is serious" guy - the Pinder role
3. Player/Analyst - the Warrener role
I think Krahn is excellent and could handle the player role. Would be a good get for the station. Or perhaps we will see more of a rotation until one settles into the role full time. That's what happened with Warrener - he came originally for Warrener Wednesdays at the same time as Fleury Fridays (which were god-awful)

These guys are calling in congratulating Krahn, making it sound like a done deal. But then I haven't heard any real on air announcement.
Here in Houston, Sean Salisbury (former Bombers QB among other things)has his own radio show now. It is a one man show, so he is both host and ex player role, but he has the studio guys who chime in regularly. I think he is just God awful personally. If you are going with more of a one man show IMO, it has to be with a radio pro first. Some of these ex players put in the time and genuinely become good at the radio role, but it's not easy.

To be fair Salisbury has been at it long enough now that he almost has more experience as a broadcaster than as a pro football player (haven't done the math to check that)
I never really liked him though.

You're probably right. He has the loud and opinionated approach which I don't like so much, and when he ventures beyond football it's not good IMO. Carrying your own one man show isn't an easy gig.

It's also a better place to live a mostly anonymous life. Would be pretty hard for the kids to have a 'normal-ish' life in Calgary (to whatever extent being a superstar athlete's kid can be 'normal')

Krahn is ok, curious to hear more of his actually hockey analysis as the season gets going.
He has a completely non-radio voice guy giggle though, it's pretty hilarious.

Too bad they didn’t choose Denver. Would have been nice to run in the same Hockey circle...

They asked him about the anonymous angle and he specifically stated that wasn’t the reason. Of course he was speaking to a Calgary radio station. He kind of laughed, as it’s clear he’s very anonymous in Boston.
We’ll see where he lives once his kids are in college.

his laugh for sure reminds me of Candy. As a huge Candy fan, it makes me smile and brings me joy every time I hear it.

Yup, it was great this morning. Both Connie and Krahn are pretty engaging guys. I know they were joking about some poor shmuck at the charity golf tournament being partnered with Krahn instead of a Flame, but i think people are gonna have a ton of fun golfing with Krahn. Dude sounds like a riot to hang out with.

Boomer's contract knowledge has been unconditionally waived.

I also thought Pinder's evaluation of the Keller contract was poor. It's like he didn't know that Keller was a high pedigree player picked one spot behind Tkachuk. It's not Keller's fault he's not been stuck on a low talent team as we all saw what happened to Dylan Strome when he got moved from the Coyotes to a team with some offensive talent.

Even then, as I pointed out in the signing thread, Keller, in his first two years in the NHL, has produced a little better than Tkachuk did in his first two years. The gap between them is pretty insignificant, I think.

The Bo and Kluke show this afternoon was terrific. Getting Bo an hour week is easily the best programming decision the station is made in the last 5 years.
