I was thinking some time in the minors to build up some confidence would have been important for him.

I think that the Flames wanted to have more competition and flexibility for the 4th line. That's why they waived both Ruzicka and Duehr. That way they would be able to send both players up and down within 30 days based on merit.

However, the team still wants to have 13 forwards. That's why I think this is an early indicator that Ruzicka was claimed on waivers.

Hopefully last year's Duehr is back.

Wranglers start a two-game stand in San Jose tomorrow.

Duehr obviously missed the flight. I wonder if Ruzicka did as well.

Man, does Conroy just have yo-yos with these guys' names on them?

At least the Wranglers are in Calgary.

Might have sent him down because he wasn’t getting any ice time?

That’s a huge advantage.

I imagine this means that Ruzicka is either claimed or sent down right after clearing, either way won’t be on the roster.

So far the Flames have tried out new/newish blood under 25 years of age up front in Zary, Pospisil, Coronato, Schwindt and Klapka (with Pelletier almost a lock for a spot as well). Not to mention 25 year old Sharangovich. That's 7 forward spots on a team that has Huberdeau, Backlund, Kadri, Coleman and Mangiapane on longer contracts. They all look like they can play, including Coronato. Ruzicka and Duehr, having significant games in 3 and 2 seasons respectively, are, I think being given a last chance to show their stuff. Their salaries can be replaced by some D who could fill in better that Oesterle or DeSimone. There have to be some out there.

I'm actually surprised that Duehr has been in 19 games. Not noticeable at all especially after last season's success.

Cause he was not producing. They basically was willing to lose him for nothing

He is still in the system so he gets another chance

They are basically screening out who is real, who is not now

Why not call up another guy for a shot? Who else has been lighting it up in the A or doing well? I get wanting to be covered if Adam is claimed but they literally just sent Duehr down.

I think Duehr is called up for popcorn duty, not an actual shot.

Pelletier will be back for the Wranglers this weekend. He is the obvious choice in a couple of weeks.

Aside from that Pettersen, and Kerins look decent, but the pickings are getting slim. If you don't mind an older guy, Hunt has been pretty good. Jones is another option.
