hehe, just read about what PRISM is and its freaking fascinating; I believe either wikileaks or snowden has brought this increasingly into public light recently.

My reference was to more of a police monitoring system that the RCMP has, I read about the Met (London police force, not military or MI5) loving the RCMP technology and sending a lot of work over here. In true CP style though, I have to find links to this...

This is just the thin end of the wedge and it is only going to get worse. These filters will have no one to control them and the terms used will be decided by the government, China here we come.

They are using the filter currently provided by a company called Talk Talk as a shining example of what every ISP HAS to implement in the future. The set up of this filter has been quite a closely guarded secret but the terms that sites are pigeon holed into have now been released, so any site which includes the following will be blocked:

Dating
Drugs, alcohol & Tobacco
File sharing sites
Gambling
Games
Pornography
Social networking
Suicide and self harm
weapons & violence

As you can see these are fairly sweeping headings, which you can currently turn off but that may not be the case eventually.

I don't mean to add to conspiracy theorys but enjoy your free internet while you can.
