Default S4 Volume Very Quiet After Update

Anyone else having this issue? There was some update a few days ago and since then notifications, calls, ringtones, etc are all what I would expect as if the volume dials were only 25% full.
I verified that all levels are at their fullest, restarted the phone, pulled battery and nothing is fixing it.
The next step would be a full restore however I think that resets all my information on the phone (contacts, texts)

A full restore does, however if you have your phone set up to your Google account (gmail etc.) it backs up all your contacts, apps, settings etc. online after you reset.

I do believe you lose your texts. However, there are text exporting apps on the Play store.

Well, factory reset did nothing...went to my carriers store and its 4-6 weeks before I get it back. Ive had the thing for under 3 months but of course neglected the additional warranty for in store replacement.
Im torn between dealing with a awful speaker or having a POS loaner without my essential business apps for 4-6 weeks.
I even called samsung and they couldnt of been any less helpful. Basically just said to send it in and they only warranty immediate replacements for a month.

Im open to any other possible troubleshooting tips....anyone?
