That sounds really refreshing if true. Consider my interest renewed.

If it ends up being decent, they need to just insulate any future films from the rest of their ####y DC projects like how Nolan's trilogy was a self-contained arc.

Batman is just better as its own thing. His awesomeness gets watered down when he's brought into the justice league business, especially with how terribly it's been run.

Make it its own independent story with a fresh take.

It seems the Riddler stole daylight from Gotham.

Looks just like the Arkham games. I am excited.

That will be the plan. They aren't going to put this movie into the Affleck Batman universe. The tone would be way off.

This Pattinson universe also looks extremely grounded in reality, even more so than the Nolan stuff. I can't possibly see how they would mesh this trailer into concepts like space aliens, underwater kingdoms, and time travel.

That sounds way too long to be a good noir story.

The best ones tend to be pretty tight. Seven is a bit over two hours and could really benefit from cutting out some more fat if you ask me.

But I do like the idea of a noir Batman story, in theory.

“How can I top Nolan? I know, I’ll make it longer!”

Good luck.

I have a lot of faith in Matt Reeves and Grieg Fraser, the DP, so I am hoping that they are able to capture the same kind of atmosphere as the Dark Knight had...

Just feels like it would have been nice to get a bit of a break on Batman... I feel similar about Spiderman, but I think Sony is contractually obligated to put out a new Spiderman movie every x number of years, otherwise the movie rights revert back to Marvel

Interesting. That trailer is all guns, violence and explosions. I am vengeance, it's a warning, yadda yadda. The trailer certainly doesn't lean into the detective bits.

I love the Uncharted games and want this to be good but I don't like the look of it at all. Holland is good actor (even outside the Spider-man stuff) but he was miscast here. Same with Wahlberg.

I thought there was some good stuff there that evoked great imagery from the game.

It’s about a much younger Drake than we’ve ever seen outside of some flashbacks so we’ll see how it goes.

Wahlberg continues to demonstrate his laziness by not even growing a moustache. Cmon dude.

It's very odd casting. Drake is supposed to be slightly arrogant an more of an alpha male type. Sullivan is supposed to be wise and refined, but too old to partake in many of the adventures. They're both about 15 years younger than the parts they are playing. So much of what makes Uncharted what it is has to do with Drake's personality. For them to totally change it really does make it feel like a totally different franchise.

A 10 years younger and less annoying Wahlberg type would actually make for a good Drake.

Yeah that all threw me for a loop too, but now I'm starting to think this is more of an origin story. Like the start of Drake and Sully's adventures together, maybe?

This is the intention. I think they are trying to be forward thinking and casting a younger character so they can have a long running series without him aging out of it too fast.

Wahlberg was supposed to be Drake when it was first pitched.

They went really young though. The problem with Holland is that he's of very small stature and looks very young. He's not going to grow into a burly 6' tall guy. His other big role, Peter Parker, is a nerdy and small high school kid.

Tom Holland is likely to develop into an Elijah Wood type, not a Nathan Fillion type.

Although I guess if the next movie is set 10+ years after this one, they could simply swap out actors. Kind of a Young Indy situation.

Half the action stars on Hollywood in the last 20 years are of smaller stature. But yeah, for this particular role he doesn't quite look the part.

Had it in my mind Wahlberg was going to be Drake and Holland young Drake. This is way worse
