New Midnight Oil. They sound just as good as ever. Notice the tribute to their old bass player Bones Hillman in the video with his guitar just sitting on its stand. He unfortunately died of cancer last year, but had finished recording his parts for their new album before he passed.

These guys have been one of my favorite bands over the last few years, and they have a new record coming out in February. For all you Americana/alt-country fans, this is right up your alley.

Returning with their first new album in 40 years, the Swedish pop titans attempt the seemingly impossible: balancing the lure of nostalgia with the pull of the present day. Amazingly, they pull it off.

I was surprised to see that Julie Doiron released a new album today. It’s pretty damned good.
