Are they racing in Alberta? I've never seen a track so bumpy in my entire life.
I think they said in FP2 that it's because the track is built on sand. They have to deal with pretty significant subsidence every year. The Moto GP earlier this year was almost cancelled because of his bad the bumps were for the bikes. So F1 shaved some of them down to try and flatten.
It's funny cause when I walked the track post race in 2019 the bumps didn't look bad at all, but you could see that it almost like a washboard during the onboard shots thru sector 1.
If Max gets off clean this could be a pretty boring race. Hope Lewis can challenge and out some pressure on him. I don’t think Max has the temperament or mental calm to be a champion just yet. He is still too much of a head case and I think he will make mistakes under pressure. Lewis knows this and I think he will be able to get under his skin enough to force the mistake.
A race with promise that never really delivered much action.
Also, if you watched any pre-race stuff...I think I found someone I dislike more than Rosberg in their commentary content...Danica Patrick. Wow, that was bad.

Close race for the top 2. Another lap and Lewis would have it.
Lewis should have had him a laps before the end. Hell, if they came in when he had 17 seconds on Max, this might have been a different outcome.
How long are the mediums supposed to last a COTA? I was surprised that they kept Lewis out that long just to put another set of hards, I was thinking they'd go to the mediums and really make up the time.

I suspect if he had gone mediums he would have had to burn them up just to catch Max, and wouldn't have had much left to overtake. But ya, getting in a little earlier probably would have been the play. Max had nothing for tires left at the end, so he wouldn't have been able to re-take the lead if Lewis had thrown ti all at him.
Lol, so now I have to eat my words as Max drove pretty much a perfect points race. They should probably have pulled Hamilton in just 2-3 laps earlier. So hard to get it perfect. RB had pace on the merc and Lewis must have been driving the wheels off to catch up. Would have liked to see one lap with drs active.
Congrats to FleuryisGod who takes top honours this week with 3 correct slots and 19 points. FleuryisGod also did it with only 9 picks (you had Ricciardo twice so pulled your second entry)...shame on the rest of us
Our overall leaders Btimbit and DoubleK were tied with 16points so no change in the top 3. Btimbit still has a 10pt lead heading into the last 5 races.
Finally, me and Fuzz are tied for the most correct top 10 picks...we just suck at getting them in the right order. Lol.

While the strategy absolutely should be questioned, the bigger concern is why did the car not perform as expected? This was a race that Mercedes should have dominated and they barely threatened Red Bull in either qualifying or in the race.
The car just isn't as good as it should be in my opinion and required creative strategy for it to possibly win.

I really wonder what they will do with COTA. It's not like a simple resurfacing is going to fix that track. It's going to take a major rebuild. They can't mill the surface any more than they have to try to save it, there will be nothing left.
Was lucky to attend the race in 2013 and walked the track from turn 12 up to turn one. I was amazed at how level and even the track was from side to side, yet how porous the actual asphalt was. It's quite different from NASCAR surfaces as the ones I've been on have much less pore space.
I still have a baggie full of marbles at my desk at work.
Will be sad if they lose the track.

Between races check out SailGP on YouTube. These are sailing races with high performance foil sailboats similar to the Americas Cup boats, just smaller and faster. They have multiple heat races and each race is 15 mins or less. With the right wind the boats fly at up to 90 kph. Tight quarters, cool tech, high speeds, dramatic wipeouts, it has lots to entertain.
