With my skating skills it is more like riding a tricycle, but I get your point.

It's exactly like riding a bike. Like riding a bike on ice that is.

My son had his first ever real hockey game yesterday (Novice, AKA U9). I was happy to see how excited he was and glad to be behind the bench as one of the Asst Coaches.
Cliche, but ever since I had a son, I was wondering if this day would ever come and it did.
It was a very good day.

schlage really makes me happy!
over the weekend the latch on our front door broke. i took the latch off the door and one of the inner pieces had broken. i got the pieces out and sent an email with pics to schlage explaining the situation and asked if they had or knew where i could buy a replacement part. in the email i also included the door latch model number and mentioned that the latch is 15 years old.
after a couple of emails back and forth and me sending a few more pics i got this email this morning....
Quote:

As a gluten sensitive person I’ve been traumatized by many many poor and horrible tasting beverages and foods. So was at Bulk Barn and they had some Gluten free bbq chipotle chips on 75% off (cos it was within days of best before). So my expectations weren’t too high. But OMG were they ever amazing! What are the odds of me ever finding them again? Or on sale again? Anyways, made me happy munching away for a while until they were all gone.

This morning, given her behavior/symptoms, I was very worried that I would be saying the final good-bye to my 16yr old cat.
After a long day at the vet, she's home and sleeping and seems mostly ok, though worn out but...improving. That makes me happy.

Fecking YES! Surgery date was re-booked to remove my daughter's cancer! Hospital just called - it will be next Thursday. That makes me/us very happy.
Calm your tatas, coronavirus/antivaxers/antimaskers - we need this surgery to happen.

Surgery was just this past Thursday - successful removal of the remaining lobe, with parathyroid reimplantation.
This surgery has been much more painful in terms of recovery. With the reimplantation, they cut into muscle, and with her other health issues, it really hammered her hard. She's struggling with hypocalcemia (low calcium) post-operatively, which isn't uncommon, but even on 4000 mg/day supplement replacement, she's still seeing a lot of the symptoms of hypocalcemia. We almost went back into emerg last night, when the symptoms became quite pronounced, but just as we were making the decision to go in, her symptoms abated some, and her heart rate climbed up to a level that made us comfortable with staying at home.
Really glad the surgery is over, hopefully it's as they say & this cures the PTC. We see the surgeon again in 3 weeks for followup, and I imagine at some point here, we'll hear from oncology.
Been a bit rough the past few days, she and I haven't had a lot of sleep, but we're getting there. Fingers crossed this is the end of all of the cancer stuff.

My little girl turns 18 today.
I marvel at her daily.
It is impossible to put into words the last 18 years. It have been amazing, challenging and rewarding beyond measure.
I can't wait to see what the the next 18 years bring for her.

wrmmh - i got to visit with a friend today that i haven't seen in forever.
a few months ago some guys found him in his shop on the ground unconscious. he was rushed to hospital where docs discovered he had a brain tumor the size of a grapefruit (he had no idea). they did major surgery right away and he's been recovering since. we've talked on the phone a number of times but to actually be in the same room as him and see him face to face again was just awesome. and he's doing so well - he's still not allowed to drive, but he's hoping to have his license back by christmas.

Today, in the Sunshine Parking lot as I was packing my car up with my gear, I closed my trunk on my glasses, and the arms snapped off (Frogskins -- easily snap back on).
Anyway, I found the glass frame, one of the arms. Glasses were fogged up, so I just asked a guy walking by if he could help me, as I couldn't see the best.
Well heck, like a dozen people helped, and one of them found it, under my car. So appreciative, and happy. We even cheered as a group.

After years of thinking I couldn’t grow a beard, I actually gave it a go. 6 weeks later I have a beautiful face full of head pubes.
