I'll be pulling for Matt Savoie and the Ice.

I can't decide if I should pull for unknown Ice or the nemesis Thunderbirds so we can have another shot at them. There is no easy match ups either way.

Seattle were one of the best teams in the league before they added Guenther and Lambert, and after that they looked flat-out unbeatable

Can they be stopped in the Memorial Cup? I certainly wouldn't bet on it.

IMO its the hardest sporting event to handicap ever.

That being said, that is the 2nd game ive watched this series....they are REALLY good.

As noted, Seattle is in. They are outstanding. Built for playoffs. I don't think Winnipeg knew what hit them.
As a Blazers fan who has watched our boys fall just short the last two seasons, I welcome another shot at them in the Memorial Cup. There isn't much to choose between the teams; maybe the couple weeks off an give Kamloops a bit of a reset.
Looking forward to it starting up next week.

My desire for a WHL team to win it all trumps my preference for a Canadian team. Go Seattle or Kamloops; someone please win the Cup.

The 2014 Edmonton Oil Kings, with Griffin Reinhart and Curtis Lazar, were the last WHL team to win the Memorial Cup.

That needs to change.

It does. I think there are too many WHL teams so the calibre of players is diluted and there is too much travel.

This year could be the year as both Seattle and Kamloops loaded up in the style the Q and O teams normally do and the WHL teams have not done nearly as much of.

I haven't followed the Q or O this year but the two WHL teams are more stacked than I remember recent WHL teams have been.

Quebec are really good. They finished first in the league and beat a very stacked Halifax team in the final. The two teams smashed playoff attendance records, too.

Was at the Sandman Center for work today, and it is a hive of activity. All the finishing touches are being put on to get ready for tomorrow. Tons of hype around town, too. Very exciting.

I caught a bit of the Thunderbirds practice, too. They still look good....

Game Day!
Blazers vs Patrick Roy and the Rempart.
Heading downtown for some drinks and a bite, soak up the atmosphere, and on to the game.

Let's go Blazers!

1-1 after one. Kamloops is dominating play, but not cashing on chances.
Quebec is an opportunistic team.
Lots of hockey to play.
Gotta say, Rempart jerseys are hot.

Well, put this one to bed.
Rempart are a well-coached squad. No panic, and they waited for their chances and cashed in when they could.
Story of the game.
Blazers need to forget that they are the host team and get down to business.

8-3??? To a team from the Q? That sucks.

Kamloops (from the outside) are a confusing team, they have so much talent and can look amazing at times but then have a result like this.

Disappointing as I was (obviously) hoping for them to win the whole thing.

Indeed disappointing.
The game was closer than the score suggests. At one point it was 5-3, Blazers pressing on the man advantage, ring one off the bar, and then give up a shorty. Game over.

Ernst could have made a couple more key saves. It was not the first game this post season where he has looked a little shaky.

Oh, well. Looking forward to the Thunderbirds-Petes thus afternoon. The games keep coming, so no time to dwell in yesterday's result.

If that kneeing call had stayed a 5 minute major, it might have turned the game.
