More just a general joke about about the top teams getting the calls. I'm just bitter about both my teams (Bremen, Charlton) losing this morning.

only just saw that, unbelievable decision. Every time you think English refs can't possibly get any worse they come out with something like this ... worst call I've seen in a very long time.

That wasn't a great final, but I do have to say Mahrez's first touch taking balls out of the sky is unreal to watch. Gets it dead almost every time.

Disappointing, but not particularly surprising. The lack of urgency from the players after the City goal was so frustrating though. Now they’ll be picked to leave to “go somewhere they can win”, but it hardly seemed like a full effort from most of them.

They like playing when it is fun, but maybe Mourinho was on to something thinking they lacked resilience and toughness... Good article on Mourinho (kind of a career summary and where does he go from here...) in the Athletic today.

It’s not that I totally doubt he was on the right track with those comments, but he was still off on a bunch of other things. His style really only works for fans if he’s winning though, because as soon as he’s not getting results it’s terrible to watch and then of course he’s caustic after those defeats.
I didn’t expect Mason to fix that in a few days, and I don’t think we should be keeping him forever. But I did expect the players to play hard and work hard today. Instead we had a lot of passengers and some guys who just put in half-hearted efforts. I do question some of the decisions made by Mason as well. Sissoko? Winks for 90 minutes?

The Mourinho article in the Athletic addresses this - basically suggesting that, unlike Pep and Klopp, he has not been able to adapt to the modern player (softer, more entitled) and was basically trying to play exactly the same way as at Porto, Inter, Chelsea, RM....

Ya I read that, it made a good case about a national team job with it being a busy schedule in the next few years
Someone's gonna get fired after the euros at a big job

Maybe Newcastle? Bruce already has them playing the style, so wouldn't be much issue with adaptation. And the fans there are used to no entertainment.

To sum up the final, you can take Mourinho out of the club, but you can't take the Mourinhoball out of the team.

Only if their sale goes through and the spending comes on, then it makes a ton if sense
No chance with Ashley still owning the team

Eric Bailly has signed a new contract at United until 2024, congrats. The medical team will also be happy, at least they'll stay busy.
13, 12, 4 and 8 league games in the last 4 seasons ... yikes.

Iheanacho has turned into prime Drogba recently, what a strike this is.

Ya know, Pep is 12-1 in title matches. You know who that lone loss was to?
Spurs fired him a few days before their Cup Final.

If anything it preserves that rivalry for another day. I don’t think we were winning that game regardless of whether it was Jose in charge.

It's kind of a tough spot for Spurs. Once you've decided Mourinho is gone letting him coach the final would have been dangerous since, of course, he could have won it. Then firing him right after leading them to their greatest triumph in nearly 15 years looks pretty cold and could hurt recruitment of a decent replacement. Still, I don't think it really mattered who the coach was yesterday. Outside Lloris, Dier, and Alderweireld (and maybe Lucas Moura) every one else didn't exactly cover themselves in glory with the effort they put forth. They were thoroughly outplayed, outhustled, and outcared by the Man City players.

I hate to be Captain Obvious but all of those players are on the tail-end of their careers.
Some of them even went to the point of contracts coming to an end and the lineup of potential suitors was....non-existent.
