Based on the relationship of Cammi to the franchise, I'd say that he no longer fit their plans after a 16 game tryout, didn't want to embarrass him by sending him down, saw a team that would take him off their hands for a nothing contract, and now they can scratch or send down Jussi all they want without anyone caring.

Cammalleri has a -8.1 CF% rel right now. Jokinen is at +3.9 and has historically been a productive player with strong possession numbers.

My guess is LA expects Jokinen to be a better player when put in a better situation. It's not a trade I'd make, but there is some reason to be found.

Jussi was too defensive minded and couldn't keep up with Connor when it was Jussi's shift to be Connor's winger.

Cammi can keep up with Connor and doesn't stress too much about defence.

Perfect fit! Lol

Edmontons shot inflation paying off already.

Does $100000 in Cap space mean that much?

If someone could photoshop Cammie in sweatpants and nice shoes that would be great

Odd trade. I really thought Drouin would be going the other way

Screw the oilers and the kings. Guys putting up 0.5 points/game and they trade him for basically a non-factor.

Great trade on paper for the oilers at first glance. Pure scorer for basically garbage.

Maybe it has to do with a past trade, and those “future considerations” they add in occasionally?

As bad as Cammalleri is now, Jokinen is even worse IMO.

I don't understand this move from the LA Kings perspective at all. LA must think Jokinen still has something left to offer as an NHL player, but I don't think he does.

I think JJ is done.

Don't like this one.. I have a fondness for Cammy's one timers.. Hopefully he is older and slower now and super crappy defensively. Not sure why LA is making changes for the sake of changes. Two thumbs down.

Wow. Huge trade.

Where will Katz's son sit on the Stanley Cup parade float? McDavid's lap?

I don't hate Cammalleri at all, it's not like Cammy willingly signed with such a garbage franchise. We should be sending him condolences for getting traded there. ;P

I think the hope is that this will be a boost for the Oilers PP. Their special teams have been lacking. If he's healthy he can still be productive offensively. Will be interesting to see if he is indeed a net positive with all his defensive issues, but my overall first impressions is that the Oilers upgraded.

Also, who does Edmonton dress tonight if JJ is out of the lineup?
