Flames vs Blues, 7:00 MST. Sportsnet West, Fan 960
(not at work today, but up early anyhow so let's get this started)
The long homestand wraps up tonight against St. Louis. current 4-2, the boys look to win one more before hitting the road for the next six. With the third line starting to gel, can more scoring follow? We'll see in a few hours!
Lineups, courtesy of
www.dailyfaceoff.com . Unconfirmed, and prone to shuffling:
Flames
Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Tkachuk -Backlund-Frolik
Bennett-Jankowski-Jagr
Versteeg-Lazar-Brouwer
Giordano-Hamilton
Brodie-Stone
Kulak-Andersson
Smith (unconfirmed)
Blues
Schwartz-Schenn-Tarasenko
Sobotka-Stastny-Steen
Jaskin-Sundqvist-Paajarvi
Upshall-Brodziak-Thorburn
Gunnarsson-Pietrangelo
Edmundson-Parayko
Dunn-Bortuzzo
Allen (unconfirmed)
And tonight, for their sake, those Blues will hopefully get the clues, and just get the hell away:
Go Flames

I’m a bit surprised that that Blues lineup is leading the conference. Not that it’s bad, it just doesn’t look THAT great.
Hopefully they start coming back to earth, with a loss tonight.

I know that I didn't expect Brayden Schenn to play so well for them. It'll be interesting to see if and for how long he can maintain the sort of production (20 points in 18GP) that he's churning out at the moment. Career high of 59 points at 26. That being said he is in a great spot playing with Schwartz and Tarasenko.
This is a great test for the Flames. I think they can hang with any team in the league. I'm conflicted about wanting Hamonic back in the line up tonight. It's probably better to have the veteran in the line up against a top team but a part of me wants to see Andersson get another game so we can have a better idea of what he can do at this level.
4-2 win for the good guys. Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Hamilton and Versteeg.

Is the rest of the season just gonna be back-to-backs? Seems like every game is a week apart so far.

Big game to finish off the longest home stand of the season against a very tough opponent
Win and we go 5 - 2 = awesome!
Loss and we go 4 - 3 = meh

It feels that way, but then you look at the standings and you see Calgary has about the same number of games as everybody else.

How long has Bouwmeester been out with a fractured ankle? His lofty ironman days are long gone, but it’s still surprising for me when I don’t see him in the line-up.

Optional morning skate for the #Flames this morning. Travis Hamonic (lower body) is not taking part. Suggests he won’t return tonight.
@Fan960Steinberg
Interesting to note on Hamonic front, though: Kulak-Stone taking all the practice reps together. So we wait to hear from Gulutzan. #Flames
