Just go to the sports book in any casino, they'll have everything you can bet on on big screen TVs.

Not including top 6 OA picks...which of these teams would you consider "not successful" organizations?

San Jose
- Lebanc (Mangiapane's junior linemate)
- Hertl
- Meier

Tampa Bay
- Vasilvesky
- Sergachev
- Point
- Kucherov
- Johnson
- Palat

Anaheim
- Gibson
- Montour
- Ritchie
- Fowler
- Manson
- Theodore

Pittsburgh
- Murray
- Maatta
- Guentzal
- Sheary
- Rust
- Dumoulin

Chicago
- Hartman
- DeBrincat
- Rutta
- Schmaltz
- Panarin
- Saad
- Shaw
- Teravainen
- Leddy
- How far back do you want me to go? Because pick a year.

St. Louis
- Dunn
- Parayko
- Sundqvist
- Fabbri

Boston
- Pastrnak
- McAvoy
- Bjork
- DeBrusk
- Carlo
- D. Hamilton

vs

Calgary
- Gaudreau, three years ago, for a different coach
- Ferland, two years ago, for a different coach

And no, Janko/Kulak playing less than Glass/Bart is not valid.

What are we considering throwing to the wolves. A lot of names in the list above had a lot of seasoning in the minors or europe. What’s the definition here?

When you have the likes of Westgarth and Big Ern riding your wings. Or Wideman if you're a dman.

Why are so many games on SN360 this year? It was better when they were doing Sportsnet Flames. Even if the production quality sucked, at least you weren't forced to pay for another tier of cable (and all the useless channels that come with it) just to get SN360. No wonder streaming is becoming the way to go.

Based on:

"Pretty status quo for Gully. If facing the choice between a veteran and a youngster, he seems to gravitate towards having the veteran presence on the ice...even when that veteran presence is rubbish."

Being considered as "thrown to the wolves"...

Not Being Healthy Scratched Or Demoted To The Minors For AHL-Caliber Veterans.

Yeah, but we’re talking bad veterans in place where either equally talented youngsters, or more talented youngsters sit on the pine/don’t play.

Glass/Stajan/Brouwer/Versteeg over Lazar/Hathaway to begin the season.

Bartkowski over Kulak for a good stretch.

Brouwer on the PP over Ferland despite every shred of evidence pointing to Ferly being far, far more effective.

I didn’t mean for my remark to come off as a damning statement on Gully, because at the end of the day we are talking about small roles on the squad (...except in the Brouwer Vs. An effective PP situation). I just look around the league and there are plenty of other teams who put faith in young players for smaller roles.

I think there’s reason to believe Hathaway could actually bring more to the team than Brouwer does as a 4th line winger, just as I believe Kulak and Andersson could bring more to the team as a 5/6 d-man than Bartkowski could.

So an entirely slanted definition built only to support your view? Got it

...and that's the news from opposite land for tonight.

Meanwhile in this reality:
Glen Gulutzan has been playing Kulak over Bartkowski ever since Kulak got the call, and Jankowski hasn't sat a game yet. Lazar has more games than Glass (and more TOI/G), and Bennett also hasn't sat a game yet.

I seriously fail to see the problem, and if you really want to see a problem I'm pretty sure you should be pointing fingers at Treliving.

I would say that likening any team playing rookies who have earned an opportunity to the pitfalls of the Edmonton Oilers is far more slanted.

It's an arbitrary list. But it does show that, yes, perennially successful teams can play and graduate NHLers. In fact they need to in a cap world to stay competitive. Rasmus Andersson is 21 years old, has a year pro under his belt in NA (alogn with two years pro in Sweden) and by most accounts was superior to Bartkowski in preseason. It's not throwing him to the wolves like the Oilers to play him tonight.

If it fits my view, it counts. If it doesn't, it doesn't.

lol at 'not including top 6 OAs' so that we can shorten the list by not including Monahan, Tkachuk and Bennett.

Everyone on your list likely experienced some kind of seesaw battle with vets before earning their spots. Flames have 5 draft picks in their top 6. Their team has gradually more and more home grown talent every year and there likely will be more by the end of this year than there has been in the last 10. You're overreacting.

I agree that it wouldn't be throwing him to the wolves to play him tonight.

However, I also think it is completely reasonable to have the guy who has been with the team all year play, and have the new guy - I don't know - maybe get a practice or two in before he starts?

At least Sportsnet West will have it when it joins in progress, probably near the end of the first period.
