If Ottawa is afraid they won't get a favourable new deal for Turris, that hurts their position in negotiating trades. That, IMO makes Bennett more valuable than Turris currently and over then next 2 years. Only thing impacting that is Ottawa's in Win-now mode.
A Bennett who cant score a point is not valuable in any scenario, certainly not more then Turris. That's just wishful thinking. Bennett's value is at all-time low right now and like you said Ottawa is in win-now mode they're not going to trade Turris for a magic bean.

Quote:
For White and Harpur, Bennett's upside is greater than White's and that extra value over Turris has a bit of an impact or has weight in balancing White's value a bit, add a similar pick as White in Porier or Shinkaruk (early 20 picks in their respective drafts).
So Bennett = Turris and White? Not sure if that's what you're saying.

Quote:
Harpur Vs. Wotherspoon. Harpur will be lucky to ever see the NHL. Best pro season, 2 goals 27 pts. He may be able to repeat that. Unlikely though.

Wotherspoon has NHL games under his belt and has an 18 and 24 pt pro season under his belt while splitting time in the AHL and NHL. If the Sens needed some depth, he would be a good option for a run at the post season.
Wotherspoon's chances are better? a guy who's cleared waivers 2 years in a row? Harpur is actually with Ottawa right now.

Perhaps the Flames have to add a Cherry to Stajan, but I think something could be done like future considerations on Pribyl or someone else of that ilk.
Flames have been trying to move Stajan for a long time. Pribyl is no cherry, more like an eggplant.

Wotherspoon, Poirier and Shinkaruk have zero value.
Stajan has negative value.
Bennett's value is at an all-time low right now.

Turris has value.
White has value.
Harpur probably has no value.

on HNIC Friedman says that Colorado was getting a 1st and a 2nd and other picks + prospects.

He thinks the breakdown was what the other picks were depending on the quality of prospects involved.

Friedman says Ottawa is very motivated to acquire Duchene.

Kypreos says consensus is that Turris will command $6.5 million AAV ballpark and wants at least 7 or 8 year term.
Even if Dorion likes those numbers, he does not have the support of Melnyk for that type of contract.
Those numbers won't scare off other teams though.

Duchene wants to be an Ottawa Senator.

There you go. Good points. With some of the crap being flung around with people making posts just to simply make a post, I wasn't sure if your initial reply was of that quality.

I see your points for sure. I guess it really boils down to how other teams perceive Bennett ATM. Heck, where does BT value Bennett right now?

This might be the worst thing I've ever read on this site.

I totally agree with Corral. I would much rather have a 23 year old 6'4" 210# center as our 3 line center than 28 year old 6' 185# Turris who is a very good player, but likely on the downside of his career like Versteeg in a couple of years. Jankowski in 5 games has already proven he is an NHL player and will soon start producing points to prove it. What a waste it would be to trade a Jankowski or a Bennett both of whom have very good upsides for a 28 year old player who although good likely has no upside. Now if we were to package Stajab, Glass, Bartkowski,Versteeg,Freddie Hamilton and Lack for Turris we would all have reason to celebrate.

What was the rumored package that Snow offered for Duchene? Our 2018 1st, their 2017 1st, and 2017 2nd?

If the return from Ottawa/Nashville isn't better than this, that's just.. bad.

EDIT - The offer was Travis Hamonic, NYI's 1st, and NYI's 2nd. So it would have worked out to two 1sts and three 2nds.
