Calgary Flames Road Trip Preview

Well that certainly was an exciting homestand! After being unable to score with only five goals in the first three games, Calgary exploded for 21 goals in the final four games including seven against St. Louis on Monday. The Flames went 5-2 over seven games played in Calgary and now they take to the road for six straight games over eleven days.
It is going to be a very difficult trip with the Flames travelling to three different time zones to take on six teams with records that are all .500 or better.

What about Smitty? Flames hit road without star goalie

The Calgary Flames flew to Detroit on Tuesday for the start a six-game road trip.
But Mike Smith wasn’t with them.
And the details regarding the 35-year-old’s injury that he suffered during the first period of Monday’s 7-4 win against the St. Louis Blues were cloudy.
The team was off on Tuesday opting for a travel day only, which led to some city-wide stress over the availability of Smith moving forward. And for what it’s worth, there were no American Hockey League transactions on Tuesday evening that involved the Flames’ affiliate Stockton Heat, the big club and goaltenders David Rittich or Jon Gillies.
Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan: Dynamic duo

I’ve always thought that everything happens for a reason. And in the case of Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan playing together for the Calgary Flames, that belief still stands. Since Gaudreau’s rookie season in 2014-15, they’ve been a dynamic duo.
So far this season, they’re both having career years to start their season off. We’re only 16 games in, but they’re both projected at having their best seasons of their NHL careers so far. Gaudreau is projected at having over 100 points for the first time (knock on wood) and Monahan’s projected at having his first ever 40-goal season.

31 thoughts and can't think of one for the flames? Simply not thinking hard enough.
